Confession time - What kind of TP do you REALLY use?

I was just in the bathroom and looking around our products. We try to be as EFF as possible (plant based cleaning products, no paper towels, no disposable type stuff, etc) but TP just happens to be whatever is cheapest and not see-through thin...

What do you use? Where do you get it? And are you always brand loyal or do you go for what's cheapest?

Re: Confession time - What kind of TP do you REALLY use?

  • Costco.  I haven't gone the eco friendlier TP route.  I do make a conscious effort to only use what I need though and not be wasteful.

j/k.  I use Charmin Ultra from Costco.

  • Mine is probably very un-EF. I am very brand loyal with Charmin ultra soft.

when I buy -- Marcal Small steps or regular Marcal. In a pinch, 7th gen.

when DH buys -- wichever comes in the largest package, usually Cottonelle. Sigh, I know.

  • Cottonelle. I have tried the EF stuff and refuse to use it.  I figure I do enough that I can feel no guilt using the stuff I like on my butt. Stick out tongue

Like a yucca or cactus?  LOL.

We use Costco Kirkland brand.  One package (of however many millions of rolls) lasts us over a year.  We said the next time we run out we'd try the Costco recycled TP.

  • We use recycled TP from Trader Joe's.
  • Target brand.  I buy it so infrequently that haven't really thought about a more EF variety.

LOL -- no succulents.  I try to stick to manzanita, because the pine needles and oak leaves can be real killers.

    :p

  • You buy so infrequently?! This I don't understand...we go through TP like mad....
  • It is currently Charmin but since I wrote to P&G over their abundant use of needless packaging and got a pathetic form letter in response, I have vowed to not buy any more P&G TP.  So, I have no idea what I'm going to buy next.  Maybe I'll try the 7th Gen. stuff since that's about as eco-friendly as any store gets where I live.
  • 100% recycled from Publix.  Does that make up for my hard-core bug killer? :)

  • Scotts.

I found after the tp challenge that we use the same amount of tp regardless of whether it's a high quality thicker paper or a thin paper. So four scott's rolls last us around 2 weeks. We were going through 2-3x's that when we were using Cottonelle.

  • Cottonelle

I like Charmin but DH hates it. He says it's too soft. Imagine that.

  • LOL
I love Cottonelle and DH loves Charmin.  I think the Charmin is too soft and I like the ripples in Cottonelle.  DH thinks the ripples are too rough on his precious bum.
So... he's going to put Charmin in "his bathroom" and I'm keeping Cottonelle in "mine"

  • This is interesting - we use a store own-brand recycled. It was one fo the first things I insisted on being recycled b/c we use so much of it (I'm just a weeing machine apparently...)

  • I use cloth wipes about 1/3 of the time and right now we have Kroger brand.  I was buying Marcal smart steps, but DH refuses to use it anymore.  He is picky about his TP!

  • Marcal Small Steps.

    Sam's or Walmart.... *sniff*  I want a Target :(

  • Marcall Small Steps usually. DH whines about it, though - he wants only the regular Scott's:)
  • Quilted Northern. I love it and we use so much less than with costco; kirkland brand.
  • Marcal Small Steps and cloth.
  • I use OBV cloth wipes for pee, and Cottonelle for non-pee. Wink

  • We splurge and pay a little extra for EF TP. We use Whole Foods 365 brand. It is great! I have tried 7th Generation, but their glue ti stick the first piece is just too strong and a pain. The 365 kind is soft and great. My only complaint is that the patterns is hearts, which is NMS. But, that is just a petty complaint.
