Ethan James was born on July 13th at 12:13pm, weighed in at 7lbs 3oz and 20.5 inches. I was 41 weeks exactly.
Birth Story: I woke up at 2am on Monday morning (the 13th) with what I felt were finally real contractions. I timed them for a little bit and they were consistently coming about 4 minutes apart. We arrived at the hospital at 3:30am (I was GBS positive, otherwise I would have labored at home longer). I was admitted into L&D around 5am and was 3cm, 90% effaced (these were the same stats from my doctor appt 3 days earlier).
At 6:15am I was at 4cm and having fairly painful contractions. I was told the anesthesiologist (sp?) would be around for a half hour, then would be in a c/s for an hour. Not knowing how quickly labor would progress, I opted to get the epi instead of waiting. The epi kicked in within about 10 minutes, but only worked on the right side. I was feeling everything on the left and it hurt! They checked me at 8am and I was at 7cm. The epi guy came back to adjust it, but that didn't help. He finally did it all over again which did the trick. I was much more comfortable after that!
They checked me at 11am and I was at 10cm! I pushed for an hour and 15 minutes, Ethan was born at 12:13pm. Pushing was much more exhausting than I had anticipated and I'm very glad I had the epi so I could conserve my energy. The labor experience really wasn't bad at all.
Ethan spent about 4 hours in the NICU because of meconium aspiration, but he is perfectly healthy. I stayed in the hospital for 48 hours after delivery because they wanted to monitor him - because of both the meconium and GBS.
Ethan:
5 days pp belly:
Sorry...don't know why these aren't working.
Re: Ethan is here! Birth story, baby and pp belly PIPs
Our kids share a birthday!
Congratulaions! He's adorable.
Ditto!
Hes perfect! Reading that your epi didnt fully work is my biggest fear, that they will screw it up somehow or it just wont do the trick. I have little to no trust for people, so im a bit nervous, as long as they are willing to fix it.
congratulations!
