Anyone have any ideas? Regular sugar doesn't quite do it for me in my tea (and I'm already dealing with caffeine withdrawl from my morning coffee). I heard that Whole Foods had some sort of "natural sweetener". Has anyone tried that? Is it safe and does it taste good? I just tried honey in my tea, but the honey taste is too strong. Sorry for the rambling post - see bit above about caffeine withdrawl!

Re: Looking for something to replace my Equal addiction
The natural sweeteners I know of both plant derived: Agave, which is a liquidy kind of thing, and things made from stevia.
I know I've had agave, but I can't remember what it tastes like.
I'm more familiar with stevia. years ago, I tried a health store brand of stevia, and found it to be kinda bitter. They've improved since then. I have Truvia brand in my kitchen now - I got it at the regular ole grocery store. It is not so bitter. But it definitely has a taste to it - it's not just sweet.
It is in packets which as supposed to be equal to a packet of sugar. But to my tastebuds, half a packet = a pack of sugar. I think it tastes pretty good in tea and coffee. I don't like it sprinkled on cereal so much.
Hahaha, don't they always! It seems that everytime researchers come up with something that is okay, another set comes up with a reason it's bad for you. I mean...refilling your water bottle is supposed to be bad for you now? Come on!! I digress..........................Why are you trying to replace your Equal?

Although Stevia is natural, it is considered an herb, so it hasn't been FDA approved.
Below is a link to an article about stevia and pregnancy. Not sure what it does to ttc.
) The article also has some info about the approved sweeteners. Looks like equal is approved and that agave might be the best, most natural, and safe choice.

Another good link about sweeteners.

I'm a little late, but thought I'd throw this out there too - Sugar in the Raw in the tan packets supposedly has a little bit of molassess in it and has a pretty good taste. I had an Equal addiction too... : )
