I've had carpal tunnel before and treated it with physical therapy, but now its back and worse than ever. My hands get so numb and painful that it wakes me in the middle of the night, even when I'm wearing my wrist splits. I've had nerve conduction studies (before this pg) and it showed damage up to my elbows and now I'm worried that its worked its way up to my shoulders. I'm having tons of swelling, especially in my hands, so I think thats what started it it.
Anyhow, my doc has referred me to PT again and says there really is no other treatment for it during pg.
If you had it badly duirng pg, did PT help? Did you do anything else for it?
TIA!
Re: Carpal tunnel during pregnancy?
There are chiros at my PT place - good idea, I might try one.
I had it at the end of my pg with DS, and starting at about 12 weeks with DD.
I just lived with it, and it gradually went away after I delivered.
DS - December 2006
DD - December 2008
Mine started after I wrote all my TY notes from my shower around 36 weeks. Well, at least that's when it got really, really bad. It went away after I had DS, but I don't remember how long it took.
I'm sorry you're going through this. That was one of the worst parts of pregnancy for me.
