3D Ultrasound?

Does everybody get one? My friend in Spain got one but she is 34, is it based on age?

I want one! But I don't think I'm gonna get one. I had my "big" u/s yesterday, but it was not 3D and it was tough to tell the sex. I have to go back for a follow-up but I think it'll be the same kind. Can I request one? Do you have to pay for it?

I guess it depends on the practice you go to. I thought you had to pay for them, but at the end of my big ultrasound they got out the 3-D for about 5 minutes. It was an awesome surprise! I definitely did not request it...we didn't even pay the extra to have it put on DVD.

My ob doesn't do them, but I'm going to pay to get one. In my area they are only about 100-150 bucks, which is worth it to me.

Each office is different. My OB office likes to do then around 30-31 weeks to just check everything one more time. Often though people pay out of pocket to get them.

I want to do one about 28 weks or so. My OB office doesn't ofer them so we go to another place. I think it's about 100 bucks.

It depends on your insurance. My ob office does not do that, and I had to pay out of pocket somewhere else to get one done.

3D is usually out of pocket. I have had 6 u/s so far and none of them 3D nor will I get one unless I pay for it. Its totally worth it imo

Why are you getting one? I'm just curious why you are going out of your way? The reason I would do it is to determine the sex for sure b/c we couldn't tell yesterday

My doctor's office does them and I'm pretty sure they charge. I'm also pretty sure I'll do it anyways

I've heard some ladies say that during their 20 week U/S the tech did some 3d shots. For most though I believe you have to pay for them. My husband and I are going when I'm 26 weeks to have one done. It's at a place that does just 3d ultrasounds.

I am not planning on getting one done. I know people that have and mostly they say that it was not worth the money or a disappointment (thought they would get a clearer picture, baby not cooperating). Some are very happy with them but I can't justify spending the extra money.

Like PP's it all depends on the office you go to and wether ins. covers it. My OB office has US equipment in the office. They offer 4D US's for an extra charge of $125. I think you get a lot of pics and maybe even a video. I just had my 20 week appt this week and the tech switched over to the 3D for a little bit and we got to see a great shot of his face. It was a complete surprise. We weren't expecting it at all. I don't think we'll pay for the 4D though.
