  • I think when all is said and down b/w the furniture, the bedding, the window treatments and everything.  I think it will be about a 1,000 when I started out I didn't think it would be that much, but it adds up and I know it could be worse.

  • Hopefully only about $500...we have an extra dresser and shelf that we are going to stain or paint to match the crib and I am thinking about just attaching a soft pad and a rail to the top of the dresser to use as a changing table as well.  My husband got laid off so we are thinking of really creative ways of doing the nursery without breakiing the bank.  I have been looking around an comparing prices alot.  I know that Walmart has really nice furniture for a pretty good price.  They had the same exact crib that we wanted at target but like $150 cheaper.  They also had some gliders for a really good price.  I know I know people hear walmart and think trashy but they actually have pretty nice stuff....and who cares where u get it from if it is nice and safe!
  • not much actually.. the crib and dresser i'm getting for free, i got my glider used for $60, my change table used for $40 and my bedding at a steal for $50.

We spent money on painting of course, and we because we saved so much on furniture we splurged a bit to have new carpeting laid in our bedrooms and living room. so the carpet for the baby's room was probably about $350.

so i guess under $500, everything included!

  • Very little. DH and I are really trying to do this on a budget and since I'm not working right now, we're doing the best we can to personalize and decorate the nursery without breaking the bank. So far, we've had a lot of success- we've used things that have been handed-down to us from family members for wall decorations (not all, I should note that some of them are HIDEOUS!) and we've also used Craigslist. Other than that, we did splurge and buy a new crib from Target and we'll be purchasing the crib mattress and a few other baby items new.

we're hoping to stay under $500 for everything.  Not because we have to but because I'd rather spend money later on a big girl/boy room that is really for my LO than on a nursery that's just for me.  We're getting the Ikea gulliver crib which is A rated and only 100-140 bucks, I'm making the window treatments, bedding and decorative bedding treatment.  We'll splurge on some accessories and a closet organizer.  The thing that might push us over is a rocker/glider but that's it.

  • Our budget is very small because my dh is a teacher and I'm a full-time grad student.  Our crib was $150, we're using an old dresser and we aren't buying a crib set but will buy separates instead.  As far as decorating, I plan to scour craigslist, thrift stores and get crafty by repurposing old items.

So, our budget is about $300.

  • Very little.  Maybe only $100-$200 out of pocket if we can help it.  My parents bought us our crib and mattress.  We bought the paint and supplies with a cell phone rebate gift card.  We're probably getting the dresser from IKEA and putting the changing pad on top of it.  So far I've made all the wall art.  We also have a bookshelf and toychest that were mine and my DH's when we were small that will go in there.  The only thing we don't have is a glider, however, we registered for one.  If we don't get it we might skip it or continue to look for one on yard sale hunts and craiglist.

Are we twins?! Big Smile My DH is a teacher as well and I just finished grad school in the summer.

  • as little as possible. we're in a brand new condo and the walls are already a soft yellow so no need to paint. baby will share room with our two computers and desks and i'm not about the cutsie crap that will be grown out of in a couple years. will just get a crib and dresser and that's really about it.
  • Our crib/dresser will be about $1300.  We have DH Grandma's rocking chair so we just need to get a cushion for it.  My Step Mom is painting the nursery in a jungle theme.  I am planning on making the drapes but we do need blinds.

  • We've found some pretty good deals on nursery furniture thus far so we're hoping to keep everything to under $1500.

We're spending as little as possible... $160 for the IKEA crib, we're going to see what we have in family storage for a dresser, bookshelf, and toy box.  The rocker is my mom's & I'm making a cushion & a crib skirt.  We're not getting a matchy-matchy bedding set (getting a ton of fitted crib sheets) or doing a window treatment (too much dust).  We're not painting, since we live in a rental, but we may paint the dresser and/or the bookshelf.

So, all in all, I'm hoping to spend under $500 on the nursery, especially since other things are so darn expensive!!  I would rather spend money on books for the little baby than a fancy nursery.

We spent around $3200 on the nursery (furniture, decor/bedding, and storage units).  It was more than I was originally thinking but I had fun shopping and figured this was a good reason to go all out.

Hopefully under $300.  I bought a used crib for $80.  We are using the dresser from our spare bedroom set and either the matching dressing table or my brother's old desk (that matches the crib) for the change table.  I still need bedding, a new mattress and paint but that is probably all I will buy.  I plan on making the art and decorations for the room as well.

  • I'd say under $250 (that isn't including a crib).  We're not getting a crib set, just going to pick fun fabrics and have my mom make a crib skirt and a few pillows (to set on the toy box and glider), so that will save us.  We're using furniture I've had since I was a kid and most decor will be made my crafty 'ol me (I hope...we'll see my ideas actually work out)! :)
  • I probably should know the exact number, but I'm going to guestimate I've spent between $500 and $700. We didn't need to buy any new furniture (using an old dresser and bookshelf, DS's crib and glider.) so that definitely helps keep the cost down.
  • We will spend the most on furniture and I will do DIY decor like fabric wrapped panels, etc.

  • Splurging on the crib casue its a 3 in 1 and bedding. Everything else I'm trying to do thrifty. Like painting a dresser and going to 2nd hand stores for stuff.
  • we got our glider on craigslist for $40, a swing used for $15 our "dresser" used for $70 and our crib from one of DH's friends for $75. We are still waiting on a changing table (our dresser does not allow a pad to be placed on it, its tall) and bedding we plan on getting at the shower. So far that puts us at just over $200. With paint and anything else probably about $300.

That's awesome!  I guess that's why we are both trying to save as much money as possible.  Smile  Congrats on graduating, BTW, I'll get my master's this May.

  • Since it's not our first I hope to spend the least possible.  I bought clearance bedding since it's a girl and I only have boy bedding and we will need to buy paint.  I have the crib and change/dresser from my son.  I do want to buy another book case and wall letters and some shelves.  I'm hoping no more than $300 (bedding being $100 of that).
  • I have budgeted $1000 be spent $720 on the convertable crib. tall dresser, and changingtable/short dress.  I spent $20 on a hamper garbage pail and baskets.  I recieved a glider and bedding as a gift.  I'm not working (layedoff in Febuary) and DH's company is closing but we have been very diligent about saving in the past (20-35% of income goes into savings or retirement)and can afford to spend some on baby.
