When do internals start?

Thank you to the bumpie that posted about discharge, because it turned on the lightbulb in my head. I kept forgetting that I wanted to ask my fellow bumpies when (on average) internal exams start. I'm 29 weeks.

    Totally depends on your doctor. You should really ask them.

    36 weeks for me. at 37 they asked me if I wanted one and I said 'no'.  Because they want to induce me early (most likely) they want to do one at 38 weeks no matter what.

    mine started at 32 weeks but normal for my practice is 36 wks

    Things like that always depend on the doctor, but theres got to be some general week that they start to do them. I know my doctor that I left at 18 weeks had an informative paper they give to their patients, and it said on there, but as soon as i changed doctors, i ripped it up. I got an informative pamphlet through my current doctor, but theres doesn't list when internals start.

    No, ACTUALLY, it really depends on the doctor. Don't you believe me? Like ChrissyK88said, her doc's office starts at 36 weeks. Mine starts at 38 or 39. I've read lots of posts where ladies never have one unless they're overdue... It really, actually, totally depends on the doctor. Maybe you could call the office and ask them??

    It depends on a lot of different factors.  I've been having them since 23 weeks because of contractions.  I also get regular internal ultrasounds.

    I had one this past week but it may hve been only because they were already down there doing th GBS test. Im all closed up but her had is 'right there'. hopfully she wont turn.

    It does totally depend on the dr.

    Mine starts at 35 weeks. Some don't start until 36-38 weeks.

    Others don't do it at all unless there are complications.

    You should ask your dr. I still haven't had one. I had an appointment today and my Dr. said I didn't need one since I haven't been having any contractions. She said its my choice when I want to have one.

    I am getting one next wednesday because my doc will be out of town and not here so he wants to see how I am doing, but it would be my first. I don't think they do them until 38/39 weeks or so but I've read some earlier on here. I would NOT want one earlier, all they do is give you false hope.
