Ok, it is seriously ridiculous that I am WORRIED about someone I asked to "friend" on FB. I came across somebody I knew years ago, and I sent the friend invite, and now I'm all..."What if they don't remember me??"

I had a similar fear when I asked to be "friends" with someone I knew on FB....you'd be suprised at what people may remember. Besides that's kinda what FB is for, to connect with people.
There is a singer who has been around for some time (not very popular, but has a good following) who has the same (somewhat unusual) name as I do. SO I occasionally get friend requests meant for her.

DH and I just joined facebook recently. We were just saying the same thing about people remembering. We both work in schools too so we aren't taking any students as friends - they get upset, but I'm not taking any chances with middle/high school kids.

No, I absolutely agree with that. It's a line that doesn't need to be crossed. No matter how much you like a student, it's still a professional relationship. My aunt just retired from teaching after 30 years, and she had a bunch of students on her FB. But then, she NEVER updates hers, so I guess it wasn't a big deal for her.

Re: FB Fear...
Eh, not at all. I get excited when I find people.
Although, I do get the occational request that I have to think about for days before I accept.
