With my first, we were 'advised' to wait until 12 months, but he's 4 now. I'll probably wait with Colin, just because my sister had some weird food allergies and I'm nervous.
I'm allergic so I was really scared to give them to Robbie. I started off by rubbing one on his lips to see if there was any reaction (my lips will swell). When there wasn't I gave him a few bites and then waited a few more minutes. He did fine!
Our pedi okayed them at 9 months, but said that feeding organic strawberries was much more important than waiting until a year because of the pesticides they use specifically on strawberries.
I have been since 9ish months. He did have a weird reaction last week while eating strawberries. His face got red blotches on it where the strawberries had touched. The pedi said it is fine and he should grow out of it and I can continue to feed them to him.
My pediatrician says no to only honey and anything that poses a choking risk. I'd give them a try!
Not yet - I tried avocado last night and she didn't like it - didn't hate it but wasn't keen yet.
How has he taken to food? Is he all over it? Take your cues from his desire to eat. Mir is still adjusting to eating solids so I think I'm sticking with my green beans b/c she LOVES them. I have a banana for her to try but I think it'll prob. be taste/sensory overload when she hasn't quite gotten the hang of swallowing & eating.
My ped said to wait until 1 yr. I haven't given him the real deal yet but he's had the strawberry puffs and yogurt melts. I'm not sure if they count since they are so processed.

Did just a couple days ago. We asked her pedi at her 9 month appointment. Her pedi just sort of shook her head and said "they'd" relaxed the guidelines on when kids could have them so we could go ahead. I think she is tired of all the back and forth over what kids should and shouldn't have and when.
She's had strawberries, raspberries and blueberries and loves them all. No reaction and no family history of food allergies so no reason to be overly sensitive for us.
Yup, he has gotten them for a few months now. THe only thing my pedi said to continue to avoid is shellfish, honey, and nuts. He said that cows milk would be ok in small quantities, but not to replace BM with it yet.
I think DS started getting them around 8 months? My mom let him try them without thinking and he loved them and didn't have any bad reaction so we've kept it up.
Re: strawberries? Are you giving them to your less than 12 month old?
E's had them for a while now. THey're one of her favorite fruits.
Only thing I was told not to give her was honey and anything with 'skins' on it.
