Working Moms

AW - One year ago today...

I returned from maternity leave! It's crazy how much things have changed in a year. In the past year I have learned to stop worrying about things and just go with the flow. I love working, our whole family is happy, and I can't imagine how things could be any different. It's a far cry from how worried and guilty I felt a year ago :)

  • I'm right there with you.  I came back from maternity leave a year ago this Tuesday and I was having to pump and worrying myself sick about getting enough milk and about being away from him.  It's amazing what you can get used to, huh?

  • I hope I feel the same way a year from now too.  I have only been back to work for 2 weeks now ... and it is sooooooooo hard.  Thanks for the inspiration and posting this.
  • Mel&Jason - You will - trust me.  It's very hard getting back into that routine, but just remember that you're helping provide for your family and put food on your LO's table and clothes and shelter.  Be proud of yourself!

I was a wreck a year ago when I returned to work so I know exactly how you feel. It was so hard! Believe me when I say it DOES get easier. I still miss my daughter like crazy during the day, but I can now say that I love being a working mom. If you ever need a shoulder to lean on, send me a PM!

Thanks so much.  I have my good and bad days.  I do have to admit that I have cried a lot this past week.  And I am just telling myself that I have to give myself time.  My poor DH ... hearing me whine/cry everyday ... but at least he is supportive.  I dont have a choice, but to work ... so I know I have to make the most of it.  LIke I said before, I hope to feel the same way a year from now.  Thanks for your support!

  • Thank you for posting this. I'm a school counselor and have been very fortunate with the time I've had with DD. I have been off since April and don't have to go back until the end of August, but lately I've been dreading it. I can't imagine leaving her. It's nice to know that things will get easier if I just give myself time. Thanks again!
