s/o Nurseries - our kids have nicer rooms then us!

I love seeing all the nursery posts on here - everyone has done such an amazing job. But it got me thinking...most of our kids have nicer rooms then we do. I know by the time we're done with Katie's room it'll be more interesting, more colorful, more coordinated then our room will ever be. Not that I mind, I just think it's funny. :)

  • Agreed 100 million %.  DH and I both commented that the nursery is the only room in the entire house we've "done" top to bottom.  And it definitely reflects that.  The rest of our house is totally hodge podge.

  • I live out of plastic rolling drawers from WalMart.

My 2 younger kids both have real wood dressers (12 - 13 yrs old but still... it's real furniture!)

My 14 yr old got brand new nice "can take away to college" furniture so D could have his dresser .

Their rooms are wayyy nicer than mine.  The oldest has a full wall sized map of the world, the middle has realistic looking fish stenciled all over the walls and huge stuffed fish suspended from the ceiling as if swimming and the youngest has a 3-D tree branch in the corner and a professionally painted floor to ceiling sized giraffe along with several other smaller scenes with elephants and zebras roaming his walls.

    It makes me feel guilty.

DH deserves for me to spend as much time and energy in making a special place for us as a couple.

It's at the top of my list of things to do as soon as I have an income again!

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • haha! So true!!

And decorating the nursery has made me want to redecorate other rooms in the house, and DH keeps saying, "We have no money left to decorate anything else!!" Boo :(

  • Absolutely. DH says all the time that DD has the nicest room in our home and that she barely even uses it yet since she's sleeping in our room!
After 20 months, 3 Clomid cycles and 4 IUI cycles, IVF #1 with ICSI = BFP!

  • I agree.  Our master is the only room in our home not decorated!
  • We've lived in our house for almost 3 years and we still don't have curtains on all the windows (we have blinds but not curtains), we're lacking in the artwork department, etc. But our daughter's room will be coordinated from top to bottom. I know it'll become my favorite room in the house...I can't wait to sit in there and we haven't even started getting it ready!
  • We actually bought a bedroom set in March. That was one of the reasons!! Haha! We've wanted one but I just couldn't see the baby having brand new hardwood furniture while we were still borrowing a dresser from my mom's (my brothers old dresser).
  • So true.  Every single detail of Ava's nursery was so carefully planned and executed, down to the placement of the stuffed animals.

But -- we finished our basement a year and a half ago.  We *just* finally broke down and bought an area rug for the family room last month (and only did that because we wanted something softer for Ava to play on than the laminate floor over concrete).  And we still have NOTHING on the walls.  Oh well -- Ava's toys and gear are decoration enough for now!
