Beer breath during delivery....please god, no!

I loathe the smell of beer on DH's breath. If he's had just one beer, I can't even kiss him - even when I'm not pregnant.  I especially don't want to be inhaling stale beer fumes while I'm in labor.

Since labor could start any time now, I've asked DH to not drink. He says he'll brush his teeth after, and doesn't understand that it's not the same.

Are there any other beer haters out there who understand???

  • LOL, how often does your DH drink?

I hate the smell as well, but luckily DH barely drinks.

  • Completely understand. Just told DH last night that if he has consumed even 1 beer he will not be in the delivery room with me.

  • Ordinarily it doesn't bug me so much, but since being pg, I don't like the smell, either. Now that I am full-term he is not going to be drinking at all until after the baby comes so that he can drive me to the hospital when I go into labor. So I shouldn't have to deal with it!

the smell doesn't bother me so much, but it worries me if he's had a few beers and I'd need him to drive me to the hospital so I've asked him to not drink or at least cut back.   He works evening shift though so the only time he's home to have a couple beers is Sunday night.

Yes!!  I actually have to drink a beer in order to not smell it.  In your sitch that's not an option.  Sorry chica.

He goes out once or twice a week, and we get together with friends once a week. I figure we're not going to have much of a social life when we have a newborn, so I'm encouraging him to take any offers he gets! He doesn't seem to grasp that one beer smells as bad as 6....blecccch just thinking about it.

  • Come August 1, DH joins the sobriety train.  He's not good at keeping it to just 1, it's either a full on party or none at all.  I've told him since the beginning that in my final month there is no booze for him, because I will need him when I start labor.  Although he grumbles about it, I think he's secretly looking forward to his healthy month.

This exactly.  DH and I negotiate when he can drink.  I always have someone on standby because I'm scared he'll won't be safe to drive me!  Lucky for him, he's sensitive to my needs and has been really good about this.

  • I hate beer, too.

Luckily my DH doesn't drink ANY alcohol.  He hates the taste of it.

  • I absolutely LOVE beer, but HATE beer breath when I am not drinking it.  DH has actually stopped drinking all together because it drove me crazy and I couldn't even sleep near him (even after brushing and mouth wash!).

  • Don't know for sure if this works, but  a guy I know swears by peanut butter to neutralize the smell of beer breath!

  • Dh must shower and brush his teeth, no matter how drunk he is, before coming to bed.  I can't stand the smell of it on his breath, or the smell of being at a bar (smoke, beer, etc).

He'll be more careful about how much he drinks in a few weeks, but if he's had one or so he'll just brush his teeth.  I'm not to worried about it.
