DH has been working a ton of OT lately to build up his comp. time so that when MM makes his debut he can take more than just the 3 weeks of paternity leave (without making a big dent in his time off, they can accrue 260 Comp hours, 1200 sick, and unlimited vacation, he only wants to have to use comp) ...
So the paternity leave they have to give him if he chooses to take it, so he will take that for the first 3 weeks, then he will go back to work...and when I have to go back to work 6-8 weeks after birth (possibly longer depending upon if my doctor releases me)...then DH was planning to take some more time off to play Mr. Mom...but that needed to be approved by his Sgt. and Lt....
DH decided to fish and find out if his Sgt. and Lt. would be on board with him taking so much time off at the end of his assignment up in the Fraud/Burglary Unit (he is done in March) and they said straight up "Your family is more important that the job...you take whatever you need." (we also got good news about what shifts he has good enough badge to get on for his shift after coming out of investigations, great days off and day shift!)
SWEET!!!!
I already loved DH's Sgt. and Lt....they are so awesome....but now I love them even more.
I am so happy and I feel SO much better about going back to work. DH is also really excited about getting the opportunity to have daddy and son bonding time (DH really like infants, and they seems to like him).
Re: Woohooo!!! - non-important post, just wanted to express my joy
That is awesome. It think it's great when both the Moms and Dads have time to bond with their new bundles...enjoy!
That is just awesome news. It does make life a little easier when work is accomdating and when you hear that it makes it even better.
