help me with DHs tattoo idea

in 3rd Trimester
So, DH has decided he wants a tattoo of LOs footprint. This might be a stupid question, but I really have no idea how that would work. Should I use an inkpad and stamp LOs footprint on a piece of paper and have DH just bring that to the tattoo place? Or should I stamp it right on DHs body? How does that work? TIA.

    if the nurses stamp LO's feet in the baby book you can just take the whole book with you. if not then you can just take a sheet of paper with the feet stamped on it and they will transfer it

    I've always heard of it being stamped on a piece of paper first, but you should call whoever is doing the tattoo and ask them.

    i agree with PP take the book with you.  they can copy it and make a stencil out of it to put on DH's body.  what a cool idea!

    I think they work best off of paper.  But it doesn't hurt to call.

    Just use the souvenir birth cert. or footprint from your baby book.  A tattoo artist will copy it to a paper with transferable ink and apply it to your DH skin as an outline.

    One of our friends has this done.  He had the baby stamp his feet on his arm and the tattooist filled it in.  It looks just like the ink, kinda faded look.  Very cool. My husband is thinking about getting our baby's feet or hands on his chest.  I would send you a link to our friend's tat but his myspace is private.

    This.  The tattoo artist will trace it with translucent paper.
