3rd Trimester

Saddest part of last night's 16 and pregnant...

I admire that teenage couple for everything that they went through, especially without the support of their families. I think the saddest part was the fact that the girl's mother would not sign the appropriate paperwork, forcing them to do the hand off on public property and not hospital grounds.

How could you do that to your own daughter? That mother forced her to walk quite a distance with her infant daughter, when a simple signature could have allowed the adoptive parents to just take the baby from the hospital.

That was when my waterworks exploded Sad

  •   Oh my God, I was bawling!  Those poor kids were trying to do what they felt was best for their child, and the immature mother had to prolong the whole thing.  I hope everything works out for them, they were one of my favorite couples, and I like the couple that they chose to adopt their child.

  • yeah, that blew my mind... that and ex-con daddy telling the father that by giving up the child he was not "manning up"... I think it was the most manly thing possible.  I look forward to the reunion show....

  • OMG the mom was a total bag. I cant believe she even called her own daughter a bi$ch.  They sure were strong kids and the 16 year old boy (daddy) just made me so sad seeing him cry.
  • I know the kids parents were horrible. It was killing me when the young dad was reading the letter he wrote to his daughter and then when she was born and how emotional he was. Broke my heart. I really hope they grow up and make something of themselves and have wonderful family together some day. I thought they were both very mature and smart considering they're age and how they were raised.

  • Awww...DH and I were wondering why they had to do the hand off on public property. We totally missed that part. Thanks for clarifying it.

  • DH watched part of it with me and even he was getting choked up and then pissed off. Those kids were more mature than their parents and I am so glad they did what they did. I thought it was amazing the strength that they showed

  • Her name was Catelyn.

They were the smartest couple of kids on the show during the whole season.  I was really amazed by how strong they were, even without their parent's support.

    same here.

  • I cried through the whole thing. I do think that the teen dad's mom was supportive of them- she was very good in the L&D room.

It was such a passive aggressive move for the mom to not sign the papers... obviously it's not going to stop the adoption at this point, it's just going to hurt your daughter. FYI- maybe if you were a better mom she wouldn't be so adament that her baby shouldn't live in your home!

I hate seeing teen parents forced into any choice- adoption, abortion, raising the child, whatever. It's something they should be guided and supported through, not berated.

This made me so, so sad.  That show was awesome last night.  Those kids....wow.  Even my H was crying (I swear he is the pregnant one).  I just could not believe that 2 such responsible kids could have those dumbassses for parents.

this exactly. The two teens seemed to be more adults than their parents. I was proud of them.

The baby's name was Carolyn, the mom was Catelynn

  • I bawled pretty much from the point the dad read his letter to the end. I think those kids are so mature and I'm happy they didn't let their parents bully them into keeping her when they wanted more for her. The adoptive parents were great and I was so happy for them. I felt bad for them that Catelynn had her little friends in there holding the baby when the baby's new parents hadn't gotten a chance yet. I think the saddest part was when the kids were asking why they wouldn't take the baby out of the room right after she was born. I bet that process was so hard on them.
