If you weaned LO from the miracle blanket...

how did you do it and how did it go? ?We are all about the miracle blanket but Nate's almost 4 mths and I know eventually we need to try without it. ?But I am big time worried about how it will go. ?I feel like he is still so all over the place with his arms. ?He likes to chew/suck on his hands but he also just kind of flings them around and I feel like he will wake himself up a ton. ?Did you do an arm at a time or just go cold turkey? ?Were you worried but it went ok, or was it rough? ?

  • We started swaddling with both arms out.  Now he sleeps in a sleep sack.  It wasn't rough at all though- he still flails his arms and legs around at night (he's a very active sleeper), but he doesn't seem to really wake up from it anymore.  GL!

  • we started with one arm out and then two and then no swaddle at all.  Actually, now he doesn't sleep with a blanket at all.  I started giving him a lovey which he would rub on his cheek and I think that helped him make the transition.
  • I used to be a fan of swaddling until high school. ;) I decided take a leap of faith and try letting him sleep without the swaddle 3 nights ago. So far we haven't had any problems. Our house is cold so I have been putting him in a long sleeve shirt with hand covers. Then he goes in a sleeveless sleep sack or I use the swaddle me without his arms in. I haven't noticed any negative changes in his sleep, and I thought for sure it would have gotten worse.

We did it cold turkey. Put her in the sleep sack, gave her the paci, and that was it. The first few nights were rough but now she seems to like that she can suck on her fingers, roll over, find a more comfortable position.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
