Babies on the Brain

2 Miscarriages in a row...

My husband I currently have no children. I found out I pregnant in September 2008 and had a miscarriage at 5 weeks. I just found out that I was preganant in June and just had another miscarriage at 8 weeks. Has anyone else has this problem? And was your doctor able to find out what was causing it? And have you been able to have a baby?

  • I'm so sorry for your losses. (((((Hugs))))))

I had two m/c's before having my daughter. My Dr wouldn't do testing until I had three consecutive m/c's, which seems to be pretty standard. You can always request a repeat loss panel though. We never found out what caused mine, but I O late, so poor egg development is likely in my case.

GL, and again, I'm so sorry.

  • I had two and requested a bloodwork panel and hsg to rule out problems, even though they usually wait until the 3rd to do all that.  Turns out I had a septate uterus.  I had surgery to remove the septum and the result(s) of my next pregnancy are in my siggy.

I am sorry for your losses.

  • Try posting on the Success after Loss Board or the Trying to Conceive After Loss board.

Some common reasons for recurrent m/c are clotting disorders, autoimmune issues, low progestrone, or bad luck with chromosomes most often caused by funky eggs.

Google Factor V Leiden or MTHFR.

My own mc was caused by trisomy 7.  And tons of women have had multiple losses with success-- I promise.  I hope you'll join them soon!

  • I am very sorry for your losses. I had two miscarriages before this pregnancy and I am now 5 weeks away from delivering our first. In our case, my doctor found that I had a Lupus anticoagulant clotting issue which would not let the pregnancies progress. After some testing, my doctor put me on aspirin and I have had success so far. I hope that you make it through these difficult times and know that there are many here to support you.
  • I had 2 m/c right in a row.  The first was at 13w and the second was chemical.  This pregnancy started the cycle right after my chemical pregnancy, so there is definitely hope for you.  Good luck and I'm so sorry for your losses!
  • What these women are saying is all helpful ditto to what they said. Also I am so sorry for you losses
  • just wondering...how far along were you when you had your miscarriages? and you give me hope that i too will be blessed and have success!
