Babies: 0 - 3 Months

When are they no longer "babies"?

My nephew will be 2 next month and my MIL still refers to him as "the baby", but it seems to me that he's not one anymore. I would refer to him as a toddler. When do you think they stop being babies? At a certain age? When they hit a certain milestone?

  • IMO, it's when they start walking around.

I think once they walk, to me, they're toddlers.

Unless you're the youngest, then you're always the baby!

  • Although DS will be 3 in Sept., he is still a baby.  Technically he's a toddler, but he pees and poos in a diaper, takes naps and is just babyish still.  So, 2 is still a baby.  Hell, most 2 yr. olds still sleep in cribs.

  • I see your point- but I'm sure I'll refer to DD as "the baby" until I have another.
