Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I am going to puke re: daycares

I am looking for a daycare to watch DS part time. My mom can no longer keep Dillon 5 days a week, which is fine. I understand.

Daycare and nannies make me want to puke. I am going to pop in on one after work that has webcams.

I really want to cry, my mom offered to keep him and now she is halfway backing out. I had no other plan.

fml.

And this has been brewing since Tuesday. On day 2 of her keeping him.

  • Ugh.  That really sucks.  I'm sorry!

There are good daycares out there; sometimes it just takes some hunting.  I hope you find a great one!  GL!

  • I went last week to officially sign Ro up for daycare and I was in tears all day. And I KNOW people who work there & trust them. I don't go back until the end of Aug. I 'm sorry about your mom though. Dud she say why she's backing out?

  • why did she change her mind?
  • She says she has to have a life, which I don't understand. I had a clean house and a life when I was at home on mat. leave. Why can't she do it to?

But, he is my child and I refuse to push him off onto people, if she says she can't, she can't.

I'm just really really upset, though.

ETA: She said she has to have days for her to go to the doctor, her stupid lunches at the damn country club, her stupid emails about geneaology, her stupid phone calls and she is just "too involved to keep him 5 days a week"

  • Don't puke! I have worked in daycare my whole life and have met some VERY loving people who take care of kids.  They are weatlths of info. and genuinely love children.  You just have to interview and find a good one.  Good luck!

Us daycare people love kids and they are our life! If you need advice on choosing one, just ask! Smile

  • Hmm.  In a way I feel like it's a shame the Kiddo's grandmother doesn't want to watch him every day.  We live really far away from my parents, and I know my mom would kill to have DS every day!

But on the other hand, I can see where she's coming from, ya know?  We all know, babies are lots of work, and maybe your mom just isn't in a place now where she wants that kind of responsibility every day.  She raised her kid(s), and maybe she's just ready for a break now.  I can understand that, and FWIW, I'm pretty sure that's the way that MIL would feel if we asked her to watch DS for us.

Is your mom going to watch him parttime?

  • I'm sorry, SBLAY. My DS will be going into daycare and I really like the place he will be headed but I still hate it. I know I will be a wreck on his first day- I am terrified. Can you find something close to your work so that you can visit him on lunch hours?
  • I'm sorry it didn't work out. We use a home daycare center.
She is OK, I didn't want DD in a room w/10 other babies.
We pay 125 a week - for us thats alot. But Daycare centers were more.

    GL!

I agree, and she is parttime. That is why I am not totally devastated, I know where she is coming from but, it is sad that it is her grandson. And, in less than a year we will be moving away and she will hardly get to see him.

It makes me want to cry, idk it's such a clusterfck.

While it sucks that she agreed to do it and is now backing out, it is a lot to ask for someone to watch your kid all day every day, 5 days a week. She raised her kids already and I don't blame her for wanting to only do a couple of days.

Keep visiting daycares. You'll find one that feels right! I feel great about the one we chose for DD.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • You'll find one you love. Keep looking until you do. It's still hard to leave them, but knowing they are in kind, loving, competent hands makes a world of difference. As baby gets older, it's so good for them to be around other little ones, too. Part time daycare friends and part time loving grandma sounds like a perfect mix to me!
