thinking about getting a nursing cover - late in the game

We're traveling to Nebraska to DH's family reunion and I'm not going to bother w/ EBM at all - too much other junk to bring.  That being said, I'll be NIP a lot which does not really bother me - but I think it WILL bother DH's relatives.  To put it very nicely - I think they're all just ignorant about the whole BF thing.  They will think it's strange that I"m BF her at all or "still" and I really don't want to get into it with them.  This will be a 3-day long event and I don't feel like rocking the boat with them, KWIM?

She HAS to eat - and I want to BF her, so I'm thinking about getting a cover from kid to kid or some place like that to try to be a little more discrete.  DD is usually pretty good about nursing w/ a blanket over her head, but she also likes to play with said blanket and try to pull it off at times.  To be on the safe side - I think a nursing cover might be our only option.

If any of you tried a nursing cover later in your DC's life, did they take well to it?  And any recs for a brand/type that is better for those DCs that like to try to pull it off would be helpful too.

TIA!

I'm going to back to a nursing cover next week for a trip.  I have the hooter hider, but I haven't tried any others.  It is fine, although DS is so long it is much more obvious that I am nursing because his legs hang out the other end :)  But it does cover what I want covered and he can't pull it off.  My plan is to have a small washcloth or something to put underneath so he can grab onto it while he's nursing.  He often grabs for whatever he can, so I know he'll need something and I'd rather it not be the cover.

I don't know when you are leaving, but I can give you a review soon!

  • That would be great - I'd love a review!  We're going to leave the last week of July, so just let me know what you find out!
  • Hey there!

I have two, so let me know if you want to borrow one or even just try it out.

Even at this age (4.5 months) DS is already pulling on it so I don't know how J will do with it, but you're welcome to try mine!

  • I was gonna say that I have an extra one as well.  If you remind me, I can bring it to the Infant GTG next week.
