North Carolina Babies

Starz

I saw your post about reflux. We dealt with it as a baby and are still dealing with it so if you need to vent or anything I'm here for you.  Most of the ladies gave you all of my tips but one thing I didn't see was slowing down how fast you feed and burp as much as possible. Also, if you are breast feeding keep a log of what foods you eat that may trigger her reflux.  HTH!

Re: Starz

  • Thank you so much!

Also, thanks for mentioning about how fast we feed her.  Our doctor prescribed the rice cereal to stop the congestion and I honestly think it's worked.  But we had another issue with that....the rice cereal was making our size 1 nipple stop up so we switched to size 2.  Now I'm paranoid that it's going too fast for her!  Ahhhh, the joys of motherhood!  I feel like one problem could create another!  I am BFing so I will definitely pay more attention to how she reacts, but I mostly pump (esp now that I'm at work) so she doesn't always get the milk right after I pump.  But great idea though.

     I appreciate the support.

  • Yes the nipple saga...instead of going to size 2 we made the opening a little bigger in size 1 nipples b/c I was afraid 2's were too fast. If I recall correctly, we used a knife or a safety pin to make the hole bigger. Also, she will probably grow out of it. Their digestive systems just need a little more time to develop. Grady grew out of it but it came back right around his 2nd bday (this isn't the case with most children).

A few foods we avoid or at least limit with grady's that I'm sure you could apply to your own diet - anything with a tomato base sauce, chocolate, anything too greasy (sometimes even my mom's cooking -- she is a very southern cook).

    Hang in there!
