so DD has been kinda boogery the past 2 days, and today she sounds like she is having a hard time breathing (you know when your sick and stuffy and congested... yeah, like that)
am I being paranoid or should I call doc just in case?
If you are concerned call your pedi. DD had a cold at 4 weeks and it was nice just getting the extra assurance that she was okay. Have you used the nasal aspirator at all?
If you are worried you can always call your pedi to reassure you. But all babies get that "stuffed up" sound breathing sometimes.....my DS has it a lot. It used to worry me, but I started realizing that it is normal. I would check your LO's temp (rectal is the most accurate). Are the boogers green or yellow? That could indicate an infection. But most likely it is just normal baby breathing. Good luck!!
She's probably fine, but my theory is, "when in doubt, call!" I'd rather call and have my mind put at ease even if I look silly...plus, what if something really is wrong?
It?s normal for your newborn sounds ?nasally? and congested. Their nasal passages are very small at this point. Sneezing is also normal. If your LO is coughing this is not normal and should call your pedi.
Their little nasal passages haven't completely opened up at that age. She's probably fine, but if it makes you feel better call the Dr. Thats' what there there for
it's pretty common for them to be congested sounding that young.
This is so true! I found this out with DS. He always sounded like that for the first 3 months of his life. Unless she stops eating or has a fever, I wouldn't worry to much.
you can always call the doc and ask to speak to a nurse. i wouldnt use saline spray until you call though. We routinely use the nasal aspirator to get boggies out. We do use little noses now, since we asked the doctor about it. he was very congested one day and i thought I saw dried blood. try boggie wipes too!
i think i cal the doctor once a week, i in fact called today and had numerous questions. nothing wrong with being worried, the doctor/nurse will ease your concerns
We asked our pedi at 2 month appt b/c DS sounded like this from birth! He said to try humidifier and saline. We didn't try saline, but did the humidifier and it seemed to do the trick. He still sounds like it sometimes, but not as raspy.
Re: silly worried 1st time mom question...
That is pretty normal at that age. If you are concerned you can give your pedi a call but he/she will most likely just tell you to do a saline drop.
