applesauce question

DD loves apple sauce with her oatmeal for breakfast.  I usually give her the jars of gerber but then decided to try just regular Motts apple sauce.  She loved it but I notice the calories in the Motts apple sauce is like triple  that of the gerber baby food.  I'm just wondering if maybe the regular apple sauce isn't so good for her.  If your LO eats apple sause what kin do you give them? Do any of you actually make your own?  I make her veggies but have not tried fruits yet.

Re: applesauce question

  • Are you getting the no sugar added Motts? ?We buy organic no sugar added and there's not much of a calorie difference.

  • I have found that making applesauce was WAY too time intensive and expensive to be worth it.  I just buy the organic, no-sugar-added applesause in the big jar and give it to him.  Did you get the Motts without extra sugar, maybe that is it?
  • I make DD's applesauce, she eats it every day with her oatmeal.

Just peel/chop apples, boil, puree and add a tiny bit of cinnamon and nutmeg. DD loves it!?

  • I make my own.

  • I just use the no sugar added Motts.
  • That is the problem, I did'nt buy the no sugar added! Thanks ladies!
  • I make my own.  I just peel and chop the apple, then put in a Ziploc Steam bag and microwave for a couple mins.  Then I have a mini food chopper that makes it like a puree.  It's super quick and easy.  Most "grown up" foods have corn syrup and sometimes a lot of sodium and I don't want DS having too much of either of those.  GL
