I want to make an appointment for DD to go to the dentist for the first time. I'm debating whether to bring her to my own dentist, whom I really like and have gone to pretty much my whole life, or a pediatric dentist. I hear stories of how great pediatric dentists are, but on the other hand I really like and trust my dentist and hygienist, too. WWYD? Is there really a big difference between pediatric dentists and regular dentists? Do you have any experiences to share? TIA!
Re: Pediatric dentist or regular dentist?
We all go to the same dentist- same one I have been seeing since I was 9

Every time I go into to see time he tells me I am his worst patient b/c I make him feel old.

DS has been to both pediatric and regular. He has actually been to two different pediatric ones because the first one I did not like at all. I prefer the second pediatric dentist over the first and the regular dentist.
It really just depends on the dentist and how they communicate with the kids.
Since you really like your dentist just bring your child there for the first time. They will tell you if they think your child would fare better with a peidatric dentist. I personally chose a pediatric dentist that was also an orthodontic because I knew that my kids would most likely be needing braces so I wanted them to be comfortable going to their dentist.
