speech eval today

So  DS2 is continuing his speech therapy since we moved to Minn and they are doing his re-eval today to make sure he qualifies. They say he can't have 50 words or he won't qualify....he's got maybe 8...so I think he does lol. It'll be interesting to see what age group they put him in.

    Good luck. My two year old qualified for speech therapy and he's currently in it now... but wouldn't you know it, as soon as we get all this in place, he's talking up a storm! The speech pathologist said that he probably wont be able to stay in the program long. Of course that is great news...but at the same time, I actually enjoyed having her come over. She even got my two older boys involved and they love her.

    It's good that you're looking into this early. My first son was speech delayed but we figured he'd just talk when he was ready....which he did, but because it took him so long to do so, his clarity was really bad and he is now going into his 4th year of speech therapy (he's going into 2nd grade). That's why we had my youngest son checked out at such a young age. It's best to catch it early.

    Well they came over and did all sorts of testing (cognitive, speech, social, behavioral) to cover all the spectrum for EI qualification in Minnesota. I'm not concerned about anything except his speech ability. Cognitively he's fine, his receptive speech is fine. It's his expressive I have problems with. He wants to talk, he can tell you anything without saying a word. So I have to wait until this afternoon for them to call with his scores. We'll see!
