2nd Trimester

Dh does NOT know how to dust.

We have a meeting in our home with our financial planner any minute now.  Our house is disastrous as we have not cleaned well in weeks because unless I lead the charge it doesn't happen and I haven't felt like it.

But we did the quick 20 minute throw things in a closet, turn a blind eye to the stacks of crap that can't be moved, vacuum, wipe down the bathroom, Febreeze the hell out of everything.  I asked DH to dust.

He only did the tops of the surfaces - so there is visible dust on the table legs and little ledges.  He clearly didn't pick up a single item to move it, you can see a bunch of dust under the television, none of the picture frames or lamps were done.

It's a good thing he is cute.

Re: Dh does NOT know how to dust.

  • My DH's idea of dusting is to rub his hand over the top surface of whatever he is to be dusting. Now if we had carpet that wouldn't be such a big deal. At least for the time being, we could hide the dust. But oh no.....we have HARDWOOD FLOORS. So instead of dust on the furniture, it's dust on the floor! Do they need instructions for everything?!?

  • If I teach your DH to dust will you teach my DH how to close up the house in the morning on hot days and open it in the evening?

The past two mornings I have been running late and asked him to close up everything. I return in the afternoon and the windows are closed but the blinds are open like a freakin' green house. Then he says he is going to open the house up last night but he only opens the windows on one side, the side that doesn't catch the wind so, at 10, the house is roasting and I can't sleep.

    So much training...

  • My DH is guilty of this "dusting" method as well.
  • As frustrating as it might be, ladies...let us not forget that as long as they're helping it's still better than some DHs will do.

My mom always had a rule (as far as food went..but I apply it to pretty much everything): As long as you're cooking, I'll eat it and won't complain a bit!

In short: as long as my DH is helping me with the housework...I don't care how it gets done. Yes, it would be wonderful if they studied how we did things and then did them appropriately....but we live in the real world. lol Smile

  • I got one of those microfiber dusting cloths, it's almost like a magnet for that stuff. It's crazy. I asked him to dust the TV, and he kept asking if there was something else to dust since it was so much "fun". Haha...I told him he can now be the official duster....but that didn't last long.
