Southdale OB/GYN Consultants

Does anyone here have any experience with the Southdale OB/GYN Consultants?  I live in Burnsville and was advised by my primary care doctor that Fairview Southdale was the best, closest hospital to my home.  I liked the idea that this clinic has offices in both Burnsville and Edina.

I'd love any feedback--also, any names of particular doctors you'd recommend.

Thanks!

Re: Southdale OB/GYN Consultants

  • I went to SD for many years and really liked it, but I transferred to a midwife (Park Nicollet) when  I got pregnant.  SD served me well as an GYN's office, but I was much less happy with things when I got pregnant.

I also work where I spend a lot of time in hospitals, and I really didn't want to deliver at Southdale.  My best hospital experiences have always been at Methodist in SLP, so I will be delivering there.

The drs at SD OB/GYN always seemed rushed and didn't have the time to answer my worry-wart first-time pregnat lady questions.  I had an ultrasound after a week of spotting and during the follow - up with the dr, she never once asked me a question or even let me speak.  She swooped into the room, told me how busy she was (she was over an hour behind) gave me the results of my u/s, and then said, "call if you have questions." She left without ever greeting me or even hearing me speak.  I was really put off and did not want to run the risk that that's how the doctor who delivers my baby would be.

I am one person with one experience, though... perhaps there are others with + experiences that you can weigh in as well.

    Good luck!

  • I don't know anything about SD Ob/Gyn but I go to Ob/Gyn  Specialists and they also have offices in Edina and Burnsville and deliver at Fairview Southdale and Ridges.  I like them...Maybe you could try them.  GL!

  • I go to Southdale OBGYN (burnsville location) and have had a good experience. Have seen most of the dr's/NPs now (first baby due in August) and have only not liked one  - - and she was better the second time I saw her.

I don't have a comparison since this is my first baby, but i am pleased with them overall and the drs always ask if I have questions.

  • I also go to SD & really love them. I want the the Burnsville office before moving so now I am at the Edina office. I saw most the dr. though my pg. I had hoped oh Dr. Larson delivering (as he was the doctor who delivered me) but ended up with Dr. Song, she was very nice.

EDIT- ops I want to Ob/Gyn  Specialists not this one sorry.

  • I go to Southdale OBGYN and really like it!  I go to the Burnsville office and delivered DS at Ridges.  I have had mostly all good experiences at every visit (and I am high risk, so I was there a lot!).  There was only one dr there that I didn't like, and I wouldn't go see her again.  I primarily see Dr. Meschke and really like her!!
  • I went to Southdale OB/GYN- I liked them but they are not for you if (1) you are set on having 1 doctor the whole time (they encourage you to try them all because you don't know which doctor will deliver) and (2) they don't do early ultrasounds unless there is a medical reason (i.e. high risk preg or, like me, I didn't know my date of last period)
  • I'm expecting my first and this practice came highly recommended by a friend of mine who's an anesthesia nurse at Fairview Southdale/Ridges. She said having watched a variety of doctors perform surgery and manage patients, that overall, the doctors from this practice are the best. She used them for both her pregnancies, and I've been very pleased with them so far!

    Good luck!?
