What's the right way to do this?

  • Put it in the fridge for the day and then toss in a pan to thaw the rest.
  • Loading the player...
  • IMO, put it in the frig for 24 hours... it usually thaws and you use it the next day.

  • I would put it in a sink full of warm water.  Unless your microwave can do it without blowing it up - but that might be a gamble...

  • depends on how your stored it initially. normally we stick ours in the refrigerator the night before we plan on using it and then place the container in luke warm water the next day if it isn't completely thawed.

This. It actually thaws quite quickly in warm water.

  • I put it (the baggie or Tupperware container) in a pan of hot water so that it starts to thaw, and then change the water as it cools off. Once a decent portion is thawed, then I dump it into a sauce pan and put it on low.

(I've scorched it by putting it straight from the freezer into a sauce pan. And I always make a mess of it in the microwave, so I just avoid that when I can!)

  • Thanks everyone!

  • freeze it flat in a ziploc bag, then you can defrost it super fast in a sink of warm water OR break off what you need and just toss it in a pot with a little water on the bottom.
