I started testing my blood sugar yesterday and my numbers seemed good. I was sick yesterday and didn't do much but still ate lunch and dinner with good results 2 hrs after(119 and 114 respectively). I called today to ask what my range was and the nurse told me that my before breakfast number should be less than 95 and my 2 hr after meals numbers should be less than 155. Yesterday all of my 2 hr numbers were well below 155 but my fasting/overnight number was 104. When I tested today my bb number was 99 and my 2 hr after breakfast number was a 97(and I actually ate more for breakfast today than yesterday). I had a packet of flavored noodles for lunch and just tested and my number was a 153!!! WTH? My numbers have been great and that one was horrible. I'm new at this(and haven't went to the "class" yet) but I'm assuming that its because of what I had for lunch today that made the numbers high, right?? I've been really watching my sugar intake and even my salt intake but I didn't think that would make my number so high. I haven't done much today, and maybe thats why...I was just hoping that my numbers would stay in the low range! Have your numbers been wierd like that before??

Re: Blood sugar numbers all over the place??
It's all about trial and error.
Are you watching your carb in take as well? most of us can only handle about 30 gram and at max 45 grams per meal. Also are you eating snacks. Snacks help keep your blood glucose at bay in between meals.
oh and I would ask about what your numbers are suppose to be...fasting sounds about right but 155 after 2 hours from having a meal sounds off.
Mine are suppose to be below 90 fasting, below 140 after 1 hour or below 120 after 2 hours of a meal. I was put on meal time insulin for dinners because I had 3 in a row of 150's.
GL!

You have to watch your carb intake, just looking up ramen noodles nutrition facts they are 54 carbs, that is usually a lot for lunch time. Maybe it would work at dinner time. Max I can do at lunch is between 30 - 45 carbs.
You are not considered over though since your doc is giving you to 155, sometimes you can eat something 2 days in a row and get 2 way different #'s.
Regarding your fasting #, usually if it is over 3 or more times they will put you on insulin or glyubride, you really have no control over your fasting #'s.
155 for 2 hour?!?!?!
I would looooove to be allowed that, lol.
Did you mention that you have gestational diabetes? 155 for 2 hours is the correct range for a diabetic who is not pregnant, but incorrect for a pregnant woman. They want the numbers even lower during pregnancy.
Carbs matter more than sugar... I had a 196 after eating 1/2 cup of pasta. No idea why, it was well within my carb limit.. apparently I just can't do pasta. Who knows.
