Hey ladies!
I'm really interested in using the one-size BumGenius diapers after my LO arrives. Have any of you used them? If so, what's your opinion?
Also, I'm kind of confused on this: Do you have to buy inserts to put inside of them? If so, do you use the BumGenius kind, or do you buy something else to use as an insert?
Thanks!
Re: Crossing Over re: BumGenius
Yay! A cloth diaper convert!
We love our BGs. You should know though, that the one-sized BGs won't fit a tiny newborn. We did the kissaluv's newborn trial with Thirsties x-small covers for about the first month or so before using the BGs. The BGs come with a "newborn" insert, which fits the smallest setting and is thinner, and a normal insert that is longer and thicker for the larger settings. I can't say enough good things about the BGs-they're easy and soft, and adorable! If you want to know more about cloth diapering, check out Jillians Drawers website.
I use them--I love them. They are VERY bluky on little bums, though. Just keep that in mind.
All BGs come with 2 inserts--a "doubler" and the regular insert. You can use just the doubler as a newborn insert to help with the bulkiness. The doubler is also great to use at night w/ the regular insert--no more middle of the night diaper changes!
I also use G-diapers, which I love. They have a new cloth insert that I'll buy when they're back in stock (they're sold out till early fall). In the meantime, I use the flushable inserts and I'm going to try prefolds in the G-diaper liner, too--to see how that works.
I find CDing very easy--the washing can be a PITA, but it's only one extra load every other day, so it's not too difficult. I recommend at least 12 of them to start because you have to wash at least every other day. If your LO is in day care, I'd get at least 20 because (at least at my day care) they change more often (every 2 hours whether they need it or not).
hi - definitely hop over to The Eco Friendly Family board, they coached me thru the transition to cloth, and everyone is so helpful. anyway we have a few BG 3.0 and like them, but i didn't start cloth until 4.5 months so i dunno about a newborn in them.
see the link in my siggy to the list of cloth diaper trials available. i havent done any, i ended up buying random diapers before i found out about the trials, but i wish i had done one. you send back / get refunded for what you decide doesn't work for you! good luck with your pregnancy and delivery!
