Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Taking baby out in public

I feel like each time I take DS out in public I am a nervous wreck.  I am trying to keep busy so I can get out of the house and not go stir crazy.  We tried going to the mall today and I am dumb and was there before they opened.  I thought the mall would be open by 9:45 when I was there.  So we headed to Old Navy and he was crying a lot in the stroller.  He won't take a pacifier.  What tricks do you use to help your baby when you are out and he is fussy and won't stop crying?  I don't want people thinking I am beating my poor child.

I usually bring the Bjorn. DD will no longer tolerate sitting in the stroller for very long. When she was little, I'd bring her around a time I thought she might nap b/c she would sleep in the stroller...not anymore!

  • I usually wait until a feeding and then run ...

Diaper change.. feeding and then I have about 3 hours....   he ends up just sleeping most of the time

  • Mine will still snooze in the carseat stroller unless hungry, so I've done that a lot, and more recently walked around with him in a sling.
  • How old? When she was younger and would wake up and fuss I'd just keep strolling and she'd eventually calm down. If it got really bad I'd take her out and soothe her and then put her back in. She won't take a paci either.

Now that she's older I usually give her a blanket to cuddle up to in her stroller. She loves snuggling them and it usually calms her.

  • He's 11 weeks today.  I'll have to take the Bjorn with me and maybe give that a try.  On the positive side, he has saved me money because I end up putting clothes back that I intended on trying on =)
