If you are just joining, please introduce yourself.

I created a group calendar for us to add all of our appts, due dates and any fun events we want to share with one another (birthdays, anniversaries, etc).  All you need to do is click the add/edit button at the bottom and select the date/time of your event, make sure you include your bump screenname what the event is and then make your background a different color to separate appts on the same day.

Also, some of you have added your appts and not included your screenname...so I have NO idea who has the appt.  Can you please go back and edit your event to include your screenname?  Specifically appts on 7/16 & 7/27.  Thank you!

Here is the calendar:

QOTD:  Have you found any good pregnancy resources (books, websites, etc.) that you have found helpful or at least entertaining?

When I was pregnant with DD, I did really enjoy Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs.  It wasn't very helpful per say, but totally entertaining and real.  I read a couple other books but nothing that was really awesome.  This time I haven't done anything and am kinda out of the loop on good reads and sites that are out there now!  I would love to hear what you guys have found!

Re: **February Love Bugs - Wednesday Check-in**

  • I'm reading Belly Laughs. I love her sense of humor about everything pregnancy related. Its a quick and fun read.
  • Loading the player...
  • I've been loving going to YouTube to watch video ultrasounds of how big my baby is at any given time.  In some of them, you can see the baby wiggling around.  It's amazing.
  • I read belly laughs one day in a store having coffee there.  That was quite awhile ago.  I did think it was funny, but I'd probably get a lot more out of it now!  I only have the "What to Expect When You're Expecting" book.  I try not to read too far ahead of where I am so I don't get too nervous!

  • I really haven't found anything, I might have to go get the Belly Laughs book though, sounds like a good read. I need something light hearted, not just facts and info....I already have that :)

Oh...side note....Breezie we are due date twins Cool

I haven't really been reading anything aside from WTEWYE, but I plan to buy Belly Laughs and a few other books once I get to the 2nd tri.  I didn't know about the YouTube vids... I'll have to check those out! :)

QOTD: I read Belly Laughs - hilarious! Very quick read, too. Also, I have Your Pregnancy Week By Week, The Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy, and (mostly for my husband, but I read it occasionally too) The Caveman's Pregnancy Companion - A Survival Guide for Expectant Fathers.

Your Pregnancy Week By Week is decent. I got it at half price books.

The Mayo Clinic Guide is my favorite for information. It's laid out fairly well and easy to navigate. Seems to have very up to date, accurate information as well.

The Caveman's Guide is pretty humorous. It is written in a way that will keep your attention and will make you giggle. Lots of good info for dads-to-be that are clueless about pregnancy.

  • Of all the books I have read, the Mayo Clinic guide to pregnancy is the best by far. I love it.
  • (My appointment is hours away and I'm so excited that I can't sit still!)

For books, I really like Feed The Belly about nutrition. It's very helpful.

For websites, these are my faves:

    https://www.alphamom.com/pregnancy-calendar/
(wicked funny description of each week)

    https://www.babycenter.com/pregnancy
(pics of the fetus and uterus each week)

    https://www.lets-panic.com/pregnancy/
(helps you laugh at your pregnant self)

  • I just got WTEWYE in the mail from our hospital.  It is an informative, but kind of dry read.  Hubby thinks it is interesting though.  I am finishing up my bachelors this fall so I have little time for additional books, but when that is done I would like some entertaining reading (for once in a long time).

Right now I am enjoying 'the bump' while I am at work! Cool

  • I read the Girlfriend's guide to pregnancy with DD#1 and just loved it!  The most useful pre-baby book I had though was Baby Bargains--so great when trying to make impossible choices about what is best to get for baby!

So, just to follow-up, I just went to check out the YouTube videos for 10 week u/s.  It's so crazy to see the babies move, and now I'm kinda freaked because I haven't seen my baby move yet.  I know this isn't something I should worry about, but I just didn't expect to see so much movement at 10 weeks!  Maybe at my 12 week NT scan, I'll be able to see the LO move.

  • I have an awesome book my sister gave me that explains in detail what is happening each day. I will have to write down the name tonight.
  • I have WTEWYE and Your Pregnancy Week by Week - neither are particularly entertaining, but they are helpful I guess.  I like babycenter.com and americanpregnancy.org for websites.  I really want to read Belly Laughs, my friend said I could borrow it but I haven't gotten around to picking it up from her yet!

I have been reading alphamom ever since you posted and I love it!  So funny, thanks!!!  Totally bookmarking it!  And good luck today!

  • A friend gave me What to Expect, but so far DH has been hogging it, so I haven't had a chance to read it.   I think it's adorable that he's all about reading up on it. Big Smile

  • A girlfriend gave me "A Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy" (I think that's what it's called) and it's great.  It's funny and applicable.  It's about all things pregnancy... even those things that people usually don't talk about (hemmoroids, gas, etc.)

Also reading the "What to Expect..." book and "Your Pregnancy Week By Week", which is great because I like to read about what is going on with the LO and what's changing in me each week.  Plus, it has life-size illustrations of the LO (at least during the first few months) which I like a lot, and some recommended exercises.

  • I have been reading Alpha Mom too...love it! I also have been watching the 4d u/s on youtube and reading the Mayo Guide book.
  • I have been reading what to expect when your expecting and also what to expect the first yr of life, both good.
  • I've found WTEWYE really helpful!  It covers just about anything I have a question on.

  • I love Your Pregnancy Week By Week - very informative! I wasn't a big fan of Belly Laughs.
  • My favorite books are:

    The Pregnancy Book

    Mayo clinic Guide to Pregnancy

    Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy

and for DH "So Your going to be a dad!"

  • We've received a few books from our parents so far and we are enjoying them all. Our favorite so far has be "Dad's Pregnant Too!" By Harlan Cohen. My husband is really enjoying the stories and advice from new dads, new moms, and expectant dads and moms. It is light hearted and informative!

    We are also reading:

    Your Pregnancy: Week by Week

    The Everything Pregnancy Book

There are a lot of great books out there!

  • My doctor gave me While Waiting and I've decided to use that as my main text.  For fun my mother gave me The Little Big Book of Pregnancy and it's a sort of sentimental, fanciful look at pregnancy with beautiful illustrations.
  • Side from What to Expect, I have read the Jenny McCarthy books and also Sippy Cups are not for Chardonnay - both authors entertaining and fun/informative.

  • I like the Mayo book.

  • I've enjoyed:
Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregancy
    Ina May's Guide to Childbirth

    For DH: The Expectant Father

I stayed home from work today because I felt like carp. I haven't even gotten out of my PJs yet.

  • QOTD:  Have you found any good pregnancy resources (books, websites, etc.) that you have found helpful or at least entertaining?

I'm reading "What to Expect When You're Expecting".  It's pretty helpful.  Apparently I need to read "Belly Laughs"!  :)
