Hi,
So I'm 35 DH is going to be 40 this September. We're TTC our first child. No luck been trying since April/May this year. I am ovulating, I think. The pee on the stick ovulation test says I am. But still nothing.
At what point do we go in and speak with a doctor to see if there is a problem. I know it takes time but I don't want to wait a year. I feel like I'm running out of time as it is.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks!
Re: new here, got questions
Hi and welcome! You should also begin charting your BBT to make sure you are actually ovulating. You can use Fertility Friend to do that.
A positive OPK doesn't necessarily mean you actually ovulated but a rise in your BBT will tell you if and when you did. FF also has a ton of other useful information - tutorials on how the website works and educational info as well.
Good luck!
We've been TTC for 2 years. Here are the things that my girlfriends told me in the begining that I wish I had listened to and saved a lot of time:
* Bite the bullet and buy the expensive fertility monitor (Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor)
* Read Taking Charge of Your Fertility - it's a big book; you can find it on Amazon or in your library. It will tell you all about how you track your cycles and what it all means. To track your cycles, you'll also need a basal thermometer.
*If you are over 35 and have been trying for more than 6 months, go see a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE).
*Make sure you and your DH talk about how far you're willing to go with this.
* Start taking yoga if you don't already to try to calm your mind and get in the best possible shape you can now!
Hang in there and good luck!

I highly recommend this as well. I am very glad I started doing it early on. Helped me really understand my cycle. Good luck!
Welcome! I would suggest charting your temps. That plus using OPKs or CBEFM (I also highly recommend the expense) really helps you see the patterns your cycle goes through.
They will usually refer you to an RE after 6 months of trying or if you have had a m/c or two.
Agree with others. Just because the OPK is showing an LH surge does not mean you are ovulating. Only the thermal shift from charting will tell you that. TCOYF explains it all very well.
At 35+ years and after 6 months of trying you should see your doc.
Good luck!
