Babies: 0 - 3 Months

What are mittens for?

Are they just for baby with long nails? If so, then you can cut/file trim them right? Somebody fill me on on other reason why a baby would needs assorted colors of mittens for scrapy nails?

  • We trim his nails every other day and he still looks like he sleeps with Freddie Kreuger

  • Ummm... so they dont scratch themselves.
  • My son likes to suck on his fingers so I put them on him so that he doesn't dry out his hands anymore.

  • Small babies tend to touch their faces a lot! You can file the nails as much as you want but sometimes there are still some sharp corners and edges left which is enough for them to scratch. I am not a fan of mittens, but had to use them from time to time especially at night during first couple of months.

Yep. They are deadly weapons, esp when DD grabs onto my nipples. DD HATES having her hands covered, so we all just get scratched.

  • our little guy used to literally grab his face
  • I used them everyday for about 2 weeks. Now we dont use anything. She learned pretty quickly not to scratch herself. They were very useful in the beginning though. It was so nerve wracking to try and trim the paper thin nails. I honestly never trim her nails. they just fall off.
  • I never used them.  (Except in the winter in the snow!)
  • to piss you off because they will NEVER stay on.
