Maternity Jeans/clothes shopping help

Where did you all find Mat jeans that fit well & were a decent price? I tried on some at Target the other day and they seemed pretty good... but might try to run over to TTC and go to the Gap Maternity store just to see.

I also went to Pea in a Pod and tried on Seven for all Mankind jeans. Decided against them, and in so doing, insured I won't be a single mother. Crisis averted.

Any further recommendations on maternity jeans, clothes, etc? I have a bunch of hand-me-down tops, and won't need to be dressy too often (since I won't be working in the fall - only school). How many shirts & pants do you recommend having for this time period? Do you think I could get by w/ one pair of jeans, or should I get two?

Re: Maternity Jeans/clothes shopping help

  • I think the pants from the Gap are the best. Mostly because they aren't size S, M, L... they are actual # sizes. I'd maybe get a pair now and then hold off for a little as you grow. Maybe look for some other pants at the Gap. Kohls also has some good stuff. I have 2 pairs of pants from there and 1 fits great and the other I can hardly keep up... they are the same size.

    Good luck with the shopping!

  • The "Oh Baby by Motherhood" jeans at Kohls worked for me.  They are usually "40% off" and much better priced than going to the Motherhood store.  I loved the secret fit belly style for my 2nd tri and most of my 3rd tri.  I had several pairs since it was winter, but I think you could be ok with 1 pair for now (different belly styles fit at different times for most people).

  • I think I got my mat jeans from Old Navy.  They were cheap and I wore them all the way to the bitter end.
  • I loved my Gap khakis and skirts. They were worth the money and I did wear them the whole time. I went to Target for most of my dresses and shirts.

The Motherhood Secret Fit jeans came out in the mid of my pg and I loved those too bc they go all the way up and dont show through shirts etc. I saw them in Kohls the other day too. GL!

  • I lived in my Gap maternity jeans while I was pregnant. I also had some jeans from Motherhood Maternity. I'd suggest getting two pairs of jeans. Both pairs of my maternity jeans were looking pretty rough by the end of my pregnancy.

While you're checking out the Gap maternity store at TTC, also check out Motherhood Maternity store. They're not as expensive as Pea in a Pod, and sometimes you can find some decent things on the sale rack.

  • I too fell in love with expensive jeans from Pea in the Pod but decided against it.  I purchased these:

     https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=48673&vid=1&pid=679379&scid=679379002

They have been my favorite by far, still comfortable and getting towards the end.  I got them around 13 or 14 weeks and have been wearing them since then.

  • I absolutely love the secret belly from motherhood.  I have two capris and a pair of jeans that I got from kohls.  It has taken me through the whole PG and they weren't that expensive.

I would get two pairs of jeans unless you don't wear jeans often.

  • I got a pair of jeans from Ross for $10 and I borrowed a pair from Motherhood Maternity.  They were both great but having the all over band over my tummy was definitely best towards the end of pregnancy.

  • My favorite pair came from Belk (Cary Town has maternity) and they were about $28 I think? I would recommend having at least 2 pairs of jeans to rotate in the fall. I liked the secret fit belly ones I have from Motherhood too and they were only about $30 as well.
  • My favorite pair was from Ann Taylor Loft maternity- but I'm not sure that still exists (that was kind of mean of me to mention I guess).

My other favorite pair was from Motherhood, the Secret Fit kind. I liked those the best for all of my 3rd trimester.

I also had a pair from Old Navy, but those didn't fit me quite right so I only wore them when my other ones were dirty.
