I want to make something yummy!

Okay, I'm feeling inspired---I would LOVE to make some berry jam/jelly but have never done it before!  (well, I did it with my grandma when I was little, but.....)

So is it something I can do without tons of supplies, or do I need lots of gadgets?  What about jars/lids?  sealing?  favorite recipes?  Thanks ladies--you're making me wish I had some rhubarb too!

  • If you don't want to go through the hassle of canning, I think LClaire made some freezer jam and said it was delish!  maybe she'd share the recipe?

  • Freezer jam is super duper easy and very delish!  You get the Ball freezer jars and pectin, add 4 cups of blended fruit, and 1.5 cups of sugar.  Mix and freeze - it is that easy and tastes so much fresher than canned jam (I make that too) because it's not cooked and uses WAY less sugar.

You could also make a berry crisp!  I've been making strawberry & rhubarb and cherry & rhubarb crisps lately because we've been blessed with so much seasonal fruit.

  • I think I will go the freezer jam route for now--our neighbors gave us a jar for Christmas and oh my gosh! it was so good!  I didn't know it was so easy, either!

Oh a crisp sounds freaking fantistic right now! (everything does, really...my morning sickness if finally going away and I want to eat EVERYTHING! :))  I just may have to get bakin'!
