Delta Canton 4-in-1 crib?

Hi Ladies,

I'm wondering if any of you know anything about this crib.  I found it on Walmart's website and I really like it.  It's a great price ($250) and it is a 4-in-1 convertible crib.  It comes in a beautiful espresso color too.  I'm confused about looking up reviews and recall information.  If any of you have any tips or advice I would really appreciate your help!

  • I don't have any helpful info for you, but I know that this is one of my finalists!

  • I have this crib and matching dresser and it a great for the money. I got it on sale a target about a month ago for 200.

  • In the Baby Bargains book Delta has a rating of an F.  It says last year it had the biggest recall in history of crib recalls and resulted in millions of their cribs being recalled and two infant deaths.  It advises buyers to stay away from that brand.
  • We are thinking of getting the Delta Dakota crib and changer combo.

  • Baby Bargain's take on Delta...

Delta (also known as Delta Luv and Babies Love by Delta) is perhaps best known for thier low-price cribs in big box stores.

Unfortunately, the company became known for something else in 2008: one the biggest crib recalls in history. Nearly 1.6 million Delta cribs were recalled by the CPSC for defective hardware - two babies suffocated to death in their Delta cribs after the cribs' side rails detached. The 2008 recall comes on the heels of two smaller recalls in 2004 (Delta cribs had high levels of lead paint) and 2005 (defective slats).

In the past, we suggested low-end Delta cribs might be a good bet for Grandma's house (they can be assembled without tools). But given the safety problems, we wouldn't even recommend a Delta crib for occasional use. FYI: Delta also owns the Simmons brand, reviewed later in this chapter. Rating: F

That?s the crib we are getting, but from Target. Smile Here is the link and they have lots of reviews about the crib.

I just bought it from Target (I know it's a little early!) But I couldn't pass it up! It's on clearance here in Wichita - they told us that all the stores would eventually be going through remodeling in their baby departments and would be clearancing (sp?) them out. We bought the crib for $175 & the dresser for $175. Still looking for the matching glider/ottoman for $160 but no stores around here have it! The changing table was on sale for $90 if you are interested....

As far as the quality goes, my neighbors have had the set for 6 mo and love it - they recommended it to us - they said it's sturdy and has held up well.

  • We were looking at this on the Target site and came close to buying it. However, Baby Bargains gives Delta an F, and I couldn't go through with it given those reviews.

We went with the Baby Mod Cadence instead. It has better reviews than Delta in Baby Bargains and it is on sale this week at Walmart for $219.

  • This is our crib.  We got it from target onsale also for $199.99.  Its the one I wanted the whole time. I read the user reviews.  Also our friend has this for their little girl.  It is VERY sturdy.  I didn't check baby bargains, but the reviews I looked at were all good.

I love it.  We have cherry.
