My sister, the labor and delivery nurse is convinced that Omega-3 fish oils make a huge difference in brain development. She insists that there are studies to back up this fact.
My Dr says its all hype and wrote me a prenatal vitamin prescription with no Omega-3s. He says its just another marketing tactic to make you buy exspensive vitamins.
What do you think?
Re: Anyone taking Prenatal Vitamins with Omega-3
Wow, after seeing all these posts I want DHAs in my PNV too! My Dr. must be in the dark, he's obviously stuck in his ways. Thanks everyone!
I'm taking Rainbow Light brand prenatals (OTC) and they don't have omegas.
I take an additional supplement (OTC) called Omega Complex which is a mix of fish oil, flaxseed, borage & safflower oil. It has 1200 mg total, and I take it 2x daily.
I started taking something similar when I was PG before (1997) and figured it couldn't hurt, and would most likely help. I have smart kids, so maybe it did.
