Some of you will know me from the high risk board, and others of you will know me from the recent Parents magazine discussion.
I'm an ob/gyn resident in my final year of training. I work with high risk pregnant ladies and NICU babies a lot, and let me tell you I never thought I'd be in this position. Well, I hoped I wouldn't.
I've had a very eventful pregnancy. I had hyperemesis until about 18 weeks and didn't gain weight until about 22 weeks. I had a car accident at 19 weeks. My asthma flared, and I missed 4 days of work for it initially. Then I had an abruption and another bad asthma flair, and I had IUGR diagnosed while I was in the hospital. I also have some annoying preterm contractions. The best part is, on my next growth scan the baby went from being in the 8th percentile being in the 3rd percentile-- severe IUGR.
So, I saw the peinatologist today finally, after being in testing for a week and a half. And he confirmed what I knew was going to happen anyway. I'll for sure be delivering early, 36 weeks at the latest. More than likely earlier because these little squirts like to poop out so much.
Anyway, just wanted to formally introduce myself and join the other late pretermers on here. I love how supportive you guys are. It's totally awesome. But I have to say... not looking forward to joining the group
Re: Got Official News Today :(
i'm sorry you have to join us.
and i'm sorry your having such a difficult pregnancy. hang in there and i'll be sending positive thoughts your way!!
I thought if you had an abruption you had to deliver right away since that is the babies oxygen and nutrient supply. I am a NICU nurse in a level 3 NICU and we have to go to C Sections for abruptions....its not something that heals itself is it?
Ugh, I'm sorry about your news. I had DS just before 36 weeks. He had some issues at first (breathing difficulties, feeding problems, etc), but is healthy now. Of course it's different for everyone and you have IUGR to deal with too.
The ladies on this board have always been extremely kind and supportive to me when I've needed advice or encouragement, you have a good group here to lean on when you need it
That is so much to go through during your pregnancy! You are so strong to have kept him cooking for this long I have to say. I am hoping that you get to 36 weeks, but I can tell you that my 34 weeker did great and only spent 2 weeks in the NICU! He is only 7 weeks old but so far the only issues we've had are reflux.
This is an amazing group of women, and I'm sorry you have to join the group but you will definitely be welcomed and supported
GL with the rest of your pregnancy, I hope things calm down a bit!
