Has anyone else felt shaky?

Yesterday I had cereal for breakfast, very early, and after a while I went to walk our youngest puppy. On the way back I started to feel hungry again, but not too bad.

But then, I started to feel really shaky. My hands were shaking a bit, my arms and thighs felt very shaky too. It was very odd, I'd never felt like that before.

I drank some water, had something to eat, and about 20 mins later it was gone. But it was a bit scary!

Has anyone else experience this?

Thanks!

Re: Has anyone else felt shaky?

  • yea...happens when my blood sugar gets really low.  Having some OJ or just food in general seems to help.   It's been happening more now that I'm pg than it ever did before so I'm assuming it's because my body is just using up the fuel faster....many small meal through the day help.  If nothing else, just keep some hard candy on hand (not sugar free) to help boost your levels again (but eating something is the best solution)

  • I actually had that happen yesterday right when I was picking up lunch.  Prior to getting pregnant I had that same problem but I usually had signs that it was coming prior to it actually happening but yesterday it just hit me without my usual signs.

ETA:  Oh yeah I should have mentioned that this used to happen a lot when I was hungry.

  • Your blood sugar level dropped.  That happens to me (even before being pregnant) if I have not eaten.  When something like that happens... get a cup of orange juice.  It will bring your sugar level back up really fast.  Then get some thing to eat.

Eat small frequent meal - this should help.

    Feel better soon.

  • yea it happened to me last week when I went for a walk. I didn't realize how much the heat had gotten to me. I couldn't stop shaking, my face was pale and I was dizzy. I completely exhausted myself and fell asleep for 4 hours, all I did was walk around the track once. Usually before I was preggers I would walk it 3 times and not even outta breath. Now it kicks my ass, and I only go for walks now with my DH and when it's cooler out.
  • It happened to me when i went grocery shopping with DH. luckily we were about done and he grabbed me a OJ and it got better shortly after i started drinking it.??

  • I do it too.  I usually get a warning of a hunger pang and if I ignore it and have had any sugar and nothing substantial, it hits me like a ton of bricks.  I have to eat protein and fast.  I HATE that feeling!!!  Totally freaks me out.  So I try to keep a box of peanut butter crackers in the car and one pack from the box in my purse for emergency situations.  Maybe something like that would help.

  • Thanks for your replies!

Nini, yeah, I figured maybe it had to do with sugar levels, but I'd never experienced that before, so I wanted to make sure.

Thank you all! I'll make sure to buy some OJ today!

  • I always feel shaky when I don't eat even before I was pregnant.

  • That is how I feel when my sugar levels are too low.  I am a type 1 diabetic.  :)
