weight gain question

How much weight had you gained by 33 weeks?

I'm feeling gigantic today - mainly because of the # on the scale last night and the fact that a friend just put up a bunch of 4th of July pics on Facebook and they weren't particularly attractive pics of me!  :)  I probably haven't been making the wisest food choices lately, but I'm really trying to be good...and my OB isn't concerned, but I wanted to see where everyone else was/is at this point.

I've gained about 35 lbs so far and I wasn't over/underweight when I got PG.

Re: weight gain question

  • I think you're doing great!  I was up 35 lbs with my babies, but then was on hospital bedrest and my muscles atrophied so I lost some weight.  I look back at pictures now and think about all those people that lied to me when they told me I looked great!  Being pregnant is not so much about looking good and way more about having healthy babies!!

I feel like people are lying too!  My mom just looked at the pics and assured me that's NOT what I look like in real life.  It's mainly the weight around my face I can't get past!

And you're right - at least I know I have nice, healthy babies in there.  So far they're weights have looked great at my ultrasounds!

  • 35 lbs is great! I definitely had days where I felt bigger than others.

  • 35 lbs is great! I am already up 30 and am only 29 weeks. My OB said to shoot for 50.

  • I think 35 lbs is great too, isnt the recommendation 35-45 if you were in normal weight range pre-pregnancy??

I am up 36 as of today & was also normal pre-pg. My OB never says anything about my weight and when I bring it up he assures me I'm totally fine. I don't make the best choices either ?these days but I'm not pigging out on junk food all the time either, just have red meat more often than I would not pregnant and I don't feel guilty about my nightly ice cream either. As long as I'm not gaining too much & babies are growing great, I feel good & you should too ;)!?

  • 35 lbs by 33 weeks is pretty good; if you start out overweight you should gain 40-56 lbs during pregnancy (according to Dr. Luke's in-depth research on multiple pregnancies).
