Baby Showers

Is this dumb?

I am gonna hand make all the invites and I wanted it to be fun and different so I wrote out a few sentences inviting guest to my shower in the voice of LO. Here it is, what do you think?

"Hi my name is Liam and your invited to my shower! My mommy <insert my name> and daddy <insert DH name> are expecting my arrival pretty soon <Nov.2>. My grandma <my moms name> is hosting my shower on Sept 26 at 2pm. Its going to be really fun, full of games, prizes, and num nums! Can't wait to meet all of you!" -Liam Matthew Jones

                                               The End.

P.S. Mommy registered at Babies R Us and clothes are also welcome (please nothing under 3 months).

Re: Is this dumb?

  • i think that its a cute and different change from the more traditional who, what, where, when and rsvp

  • You're hosting your own shower?
  • I think it says her mother (i.e. the baby's grandmother) is.?

As for the invite, I would like this if it was a shower after the baby is born -- it kind of reads like that to me...not sure if that is what you're planning though. ?

  • Eh, I don't know.  Maybe I'm just not a "cutesie" person,, but this does nothing for me.

  • It doesn't bother me as in turn me off or anything, but it's NMS. And the shower is really for the parents, not the kiddo. It's like addressing thank you notes in the voice of the baby - I feel like it's a little weird.
  • Yeah I dunno. If it was the kid's first bday party, maybe. But this to shower you and the baby daddy.
  • It's definitely different... maybe somehow put an u/s pic on the invitation to get the message across.
  • I'm the type where the invites should match the thank-yous.  And I would think it would be weird to send the thank you "from the baby".

On the flip side, I just got my friend's birth announcement in the mail today and it was worded as though it was from the baby. (ie, I was born on this day at this time and I was THIS BIG!) I thought that worked and was cute.

  • I would use something like this if the baby was already born.  My DD had a regular invite but did the "Thank You's" with my grandson's picture on them since he was at the shower...so he was the one thanking (along with mommy and daddy of course).

  • I get that your trying to do something cute and different, but I think it's kinda weird your baby is 'talking' from the womb..... It doesn't quite hit the right note for me.

  • Get rid of "num nums" and I think it is cute.
