Preemies
We gained 3 oz since Friday!
Maddie had her first doctors appointment Friday and we learned she had dropped another 2 oz. They said because she's so small to begin with (5 pounds 14 oz at birth) it's really not good for her to lose anymore weight. She said we might need to give up BF completely or supplement with formula - both which I didn't want to do. But the child would just sleep through nursing! I was getting so frustrated!
We went back to the hospital last Thursday and got a breast pump hoping maybe teasing her with a bottle would get her to nurse and/or keep my supply up until we could figure out the feeding issues. We worked hard all weekend and we had an again appointment today - she gained 3 oz in 3 days! YAY! We're back up to 5 pounds 9 oz! We still have to work hard at nursing but I feel so much better. We go back again next week for another weight check. Fingers crossed we keep on this nursing path!
