2nd Trimester

BH at 20 weeks??

I've googled and can't find much. Have any of you ladies had braxton hicks this early? I keep having these burning, tight sort of like stretching pains in my lower ab just up to my belly button. I don't think it's RLP because my ob said if you lay on the side it hurts, it should feel better if it's rlp. It doesn't last long but it's been going on for a few days.

Re: BH at 20 weeks??

  • One of my baby books said it can happen as early as 18 weeks.  I haven't experienced it yet because I'm not even that far.

  • I've been getting them since around 19-20 weeks as well...they actually start around 8 weeks you just don't feel them, some women don't feel them at all.  Me, I feel them, and they are pretty uncomfortable at times Sad

  • I started having them around that time!  This is my third and I don't really remember having them at all with the first 2 but they have been pretty regular with this pregnancy.

  • thats exactly when i started getting them @ 20 weeks ..dont worry it'll pass
  • I've been getting them too, but not often. There are days though, where my pelvis is practically sore from them!
  • I've been getting them off and on since 17 weeks

  • thanks ladies, they aren't unbearable but really uncomfortable sometimes. My husband is worried but I told him it's normal. I have my ob appt Thursday so I will bring it up to be safe. Thanks for easing my mind. I thought it was too early.
  • A Vice Nurse told me it can technically happen as early as 2 months!
  • I started feeling BH around 16/17 weeks, so yeah...20 weeks isnt too early.  That said, they dont feel like stretching or burning to me.  They feel like my uterus tightens up into a knot.  It may just be the fact that your body is stretching and changing.  I feel a lot of stretching in my lower abdomen that is neither BH or RLP.

  • I started getting BH contractions a couple weeks ago. They kind of come and go. I find that drinking plenty of water helps.
