Anybody do Dr.Seuss birthday party?

He is only 9 months but I'm already thinking about his party.  I had pretty much decided on Dr. Seuss theme when I went to Target today to see that there is an entire Dr. Seuss section in the dollar bins - so that sealed the deal.  I just about bought them out.

Did anybody do this theme?  I having trouble finding inspiration pictures on the net.  Any ideas as far as decorating?

  • I don't have any ideas beyond making red & white striped tophats for party hats! Sounds really cute. We expect pics!

  • My kids have a Dr. Seuss room--I'll be heading to Target to check out the dollar bins!

You could make party hats with the red and white stripes like cat in the hat. For the cake, you could see if you could have a cake made with a picture from one of the books.

Decorating for it is easy because it's all just very animated and not really thought out and perfect, you know? Etsy has a lot of dr. seuss stuff, but maybe not party type stuff. You could definitely find a "thing 2" shirt for him to wear if you wanted!

  • I haven't done it but I LOVE this idea!! I've recently seen it as a baby shower theme and like it much more as a bday party theme.

I agree with the hat idea. That is a must. I'd have to brainstorm it some more but have fun! You can use Dr. Suess' "Happy Birthday to You" book as a guest book for everyone to sign which is what we did for DS's first bday.

  • We went to one for a first birthday and it was so cute. She used red and white crepe (sp?) paper and red and white plates, cups etc. Each kid got a suess book for a favor (my favorite party favor ever). The older kids pinned the middle to a green egg.
  • Cute ideas, everyone! I might have to steal some :-)

ETA: I googled "dr seuss party" in google images and found tons of cute stuff, like this: www.hatful-of-seuss.com/ party_supplies/dr-seu...

We did this for DS's birthday in April. We had a Dr. Seuss hat cake and some red and white iced cupcakes, red and blue plates, and red, blue and yellow balloons.

For invites, we used this etsy seller lilbeansprout.

For favors, I gave Dr. Seuss books, stickers, and little bags of colored goldfish (for one fish, two fish, etc.).  I used tags made out of pages from Dr. Seuss books to write each child's name and attached it around the book with ribbon
