DD's new scary trick when sleeping...

is to pull the blanket all the way over hear head/face and then twist up in it.  i swear, i almost have a heart attack everytime i go in and see her like that!  it freaks me out and i have to pull it off her.  the teacher at daycare says she does the same thing there and they have to take it off her after she's fallen asleep!  GEEZ!

  • Pretty sure that is why they say not to put blankets in with LOs so early...they don't know what they are doing or how to get out of it.

  • DS does this with his lovie. When he gets tired he starts playing with it and rubbing it on his cheeks. By the time he falls asleep, it covers his face. I always have to go in there and pull it off his face once he falls asleep.   I think it's how he soothes himself.

  • We don't do blankets in the crib because DS will do this too.  But he does have a "trick" that we call burrito baby.  When he is playing on the floor he will grab the edge of the blanket and roll with it.  It is the scariest thing to find him like that and now we have to keep the corners secured with something heavy.  Everyday there is something new to give me a heart-attack!

i tuck the blanket around the sleep positioner very TIGHTLY and she still gets it off and over her head some how.  the blanket isn't just loose.

I am not trying to be mean in any way, but that would scare the piss outta me! If she is getting it off and over her head even after you tuck it tightly, it might be time to remove it.

agreed..it scares the sh*t outta me.  my heart about jumped through my chest on saturday night.  this trick just started this week.  i think the blanket is too slippery.  i might try something a little harder to pull out from under the sleep positioner OR remove it all together.  she's also been kicking her sleep positioner to the bottom of the crib...i have NO idea how because she's still in the same position and spot.  i need a video monitor!
