Trying to Get Pregnant

Advice Please

I have been off BC Pill since Jan 2009 and am still not ovulating every month.  My cycles are very irregular, lasting anywhere from 29 days to 44 days.  I have been charting my temps for a few months and it looks like I ovulate every other month, or every 2 months.  This is very frustrating because obviously this does not give me the opportunity to get pregnant each month.

Is this normal or should I be regular by now?

Should I contact my doctor to see if we can get me more on a regular cycle with medication?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Re: Advice Please

  • 1. It can take some time (in some cases longer than 6 months) for your period to regulate.

    2. Cycle length/regularility is NOT inexplicably linked to ovulation. Which brings me to:

    3. Can we take a look at your chart?

  • hey there - I'm sorry you're so frustrated and are going through such a rough time. I would probably call the dr. just to get some peace of mind and some clarity to the overall situation.

    Good luck!

This, Listen to Cat, she is very wise.
  • Chart link please?
  • 44 days isn't an abnormal cycle. Usually when you get up around - someone please correct me - 90 days without AF your doctor wants you to call.

It takes everyone a different amount of time to get to their version of "regular". 6 months isn't long.

Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? It's a great resource especially for questions like this.

Do you have a link to your chart?

  • I am new to this so I am not sure how to post a chart.

here is my link, hopefully it will work

  • I am not sure how to post the link.  Do I have to be a paying member?

Here is the link that I cut and pasted below, see if this works

  • I know that 44 days is not abnomal but I am not ovulating every month, which is what is worrying me.

I have not read that book, although I have heard about it.  I was kind of skeptical buying any books before I was pregnant but maybe I will purchase that one.

    Thanks

This is a book that will help you achieve said pregnancy.  It's a very helpful resource.

  • that book helps you get pregnant and learn about your body, it's not a book for after you're pregnant.

If you're sure your not ovulating you can call your doctor and see what they say, it doesn't hurt to ask. but there is still time for your body to regulate, not everyone's body bounces back from BCP right away. Most doctors want you to try for at least a year before they will do any testing and not all doctors care if you chart or not, some are actually against it.

  • Thanks for all the advice. I cant believe it can take a year to regulate.  Wow!  Looks like it will be a long year!!

Hopefully you can figure out how to link your chart and we can look at it for you.

  • I am trying to post again . . . .

I go to sharing - home page and then just copy and paste the link in the box.  Am I doing this wrong?!
