Multiples

Recommend your diaper bag (for twins or multiples)

What one did you get/are you getting?  Does one need it to be larger then a good size bag for a singleton?  (I am not talking the small totes but a bigger bag)  or will something like that work?  I obivioulsly know not to get a small bag but want to know if one brand has worked/works better for twins vs another.

TIA!

  • We went to BRU and bought the BIGGEST bag we seen ... a Columbia bag ... well today I took the babies to my moms and packed the bag ... either I over packed (unlikely) or the bag wasn't big enough .... I have a "messenger" bag from ON that is HUGE ... but not so many compartments ... I may use that instead .... think outside the box when looking for bags .... just my 2 cents

  • I have an Eddie Bauer backpack. I can't say enough about how handy a backpack is when you have two babies. You can carry the back and still have two hands free to hold two babies, and you don't have to worry about it swinging into one of them.   I don't think you need a very big bag, my backpack has usually been about half full.  I keep the following in the bag: one outfit (I've never needed a second one), six diapers (or more if going to  be away for awhile), a pack of wipes, a ziploc with travel size butt paste and purell, a burp cloth, and then feeding stuff (started off a a tiny cooler with bottles, now is two bibs and two forks and a container of goldfish crackers).  All this fits really easily with tons of room to spare.
  • Our twins aren't here yet... but I do have experience packing for a toddler and infant in the same diaper bag : )  One thing I can say is that you will want to go on the bigger end.  We have gone through quite a few diaper bags just out of frustration with design, size, etc.  One thing that is really annoying is not having enough space and having to cram everything in and then you can't find anything without emptying it!

This is our most recent bag, which we've been happy with.  It's really big, but to me it's better to have extra space than not enough : ) It also has six exterior pouches for bottles, or to sort things.

  • We have the Skip Hop Duo bag - It is big enough to hold a lot of stuff and has a lot of side pockets/compartments.  I got it in black so DH doesn;t feel like he is carrying a purse.  Sometimes I feel like it is too big and other times I am cramming stuff in it....maybe there is just no pleasing me! • I have registered for this one at BRU.  I am hoping that it's big enough for all that I will need.  I'd love to hear anyone's experience if you did get this.

  • I have the LL Bean Super Shockwave backpack.. I was using a tote bag but was finding that it was really difficult to find things in the one big pocket.. the backpack has a bunch of different pockets so I can separate everything.  I have diapers and wipes and changing pads in one pocket, purell, paci wipes and baby wipes in another pocket, extra change of clothes and extra blankets in the big pocket, feeding stuff in another pocket and a nalgene of water on the side.

  • I got myself the petunia picklebottom boxy backpack during one of their outlet sales b/c I wanted something kind of cute/patterned but I like that it came in a glazed fabric (easy to wipe off) and can be used as a shoulder bag or backpack. I also got a columbia backpack style one from BRU for MH to use.?
  • I got the Petunia Picklebottom one with my daughter and still use it (she is 4). I love that it has a bit of style but is so practical - the backpack feature saves me!! I plan on getting a new one for the twins - my current one is pretty beat up!
  • We have the Sienna backpack from BRU. Typically we have in there a couple receiving blankets, 2-3 extra outfits, a changing pad, wipes, 5-6 diapers, 2-3 burp cloths, several extra bibs, pacis, paci clips, two bottles with an ice pack in the separate insulated compartment, plus various little stuff (the boys' sunglasses, a few rattles, etc.) and it fits fine. It wouldn't fit much more than that, but it's been fine for our purposes so far! I love all the pockets, easy to clean, clips on to the stroller handle, black and neutral so MH is fine carrying it, and I agree that a backpack is really handy when you are also juggling two babies!
