I read on this board recently someone was using this method. I went on the website and there is a downloaded ebook for $24. Seems kind of uneccessary....just wondering if anyone has used this and if the ebook is helpful. Thanks!
The method really worked for my DD, but I thought the book itself was a waste. The method can be summed up in a few paragraphs (and the text can also be found c&p'ed a few places online).
I downloaded the book & used the method for the most part. I hadn't read any other PT books, but nothing in this particular book was new to me. I guess it was nice to have a plan to follow -- and I liked that it was short enough that DH read it too & so we both knew that we were going to do the same thing.
We are on day 5 of 3 day potty training today. It is going really well, the first day was the worst, but even on day 4 ds had a couple of accidents...but overall I am really excited that he is doing so well in such a short amount of time. I have the free copy of the ebook, if you want I can email it to you!
Pick 3 days to stay at home (INSIDE your home until your child is understanding the potty concept). Get rid of all diapers/pullups. Have them wear underwear and a shirt only. Stick by them like glue (seriously, you can't leave them alone for a second until they get it). Ask them to tell you when they need to go. Don't take them to the potty in regular intervals, just take them when they say they need to go or they're in the middle of an accident. During an accident, rush them to the potty and have them finish up there. Ask them to tell you next time they have to go. Repeat. repeat. repeat.
Have some kind of reward system in place for success, as well.
This goes for nap/nighttime as well, although you can suggest sitting on the potty before/after nap and bedtime. . . but at no other time can the child just "try." Also, keep the potty in the bathroom (if you're using a little potty), not where you're playing.
