at night? sitting?? laying??
I am a bf'ing disaster and have been so close to quiting many times. It just hurts soo bad and J's latch is not good. (i am assuming its because i have to supplent with formula because of supply issues)
Well i discovered that if I BF him laying down, (as in we're both laying on the bed, I'm on my side and his head is turned towards me) it doesnt hurt.
Im wondering if it has something to do with when i am sitting and holding him his latch is horizontal and when we're laying its vertical.
Has anyone else noticed this? and is there anything wrong with feeding him this way?
Re: How do you breastfeed
Good for you that you have figured out how to feed laying down at this point! It took me a few weeks to get this down but now since we cosleep, we do it all the time.
There's nothing wrong with it. As far as him having problems feeding when you're sitting up, I would use a Boppy and more pillows if you need and make sure you are using the "tummy to tummy" technique.
Just experiment around getting a good, supported position and he should be able to latch on better while sitting up.

Since your LO is only two weeks old, you're both still very new to BFing. It's pretty normal for it to still be uncomfortable/unpleasant. I think DS was at least 4-6 weeks old before BFing became enjoyable for me. It'll get better! However, if you think you're in a lot of pain or if DS has a bad latch and you can't fix it, definitely talk to a lactation consultant. They're a great resource!
As for lying down while BFing, that's totally fine. It's called the side-lying position, and it's my #1 favorite way to BF.
LMAO!! Hey... If my kid is hungry i GOTTA feed him. Gotta do whatcha gotta do! (joke)
This.
At night i tend to be sitting just because i go to the nursery to keep from waking Dh.... but the sidelying position works during the day while i'm relaxing....
do youhave any nursing books that could help you try new postions? and is he opening up his mouth wide enough?
I see our LOs ar ethe same age and nursing no longer hurts for me... do youhave access to a lactation consultant?
